I'll bite. I wouldn't want to pay thousands of euros for a model just because it's hand built. Technically all models are hand built anyway but companies like AutoArt or BBR are much more accurate in 1:18 scale than some of the so called artisans. Most of the time the artisans get the shape wrong. Just generally speaking. My point is that the BBR 375 Plus and the CMC 250 SWB do belong in the high end category and are a snip compared to the artisan models (which is for a large part caused by the limited number of copies issued). But to each his own.

    You're welcome. :)
Please post some pictures here once you've received the model. I'm also interested in how Legende-miniatures is to deal with. I'm interested in their 250 MM (and the 250 LM Piper) too.

    Best, Peter

    Thanks Michael.
I appreciate your help, but I am not going to pay crazy price for the F300. Afterall, I got 12 MS cars already; so one more or one less doesnt really make a difference :)

As for the F50 GT1, I think the MDS one has the edge.. too bad APM discontinued the kit for 1/18 :(
would love to have one with open doors/hood..

btw, is your yellow SV for sale??

1/12 Maserati Costin Zagato (Motor City USA) - or a good 1/18 model
1/24 Maserati Tipo 61 Streamliner (Aardvark Models) - or a good 1/12 or 1/18 model
a good 1/18 model of the Maserati 151/3 - so not the Tecnomodel
a good 1/18 model of the Maserati 450S - again, not the Tecnomodel
    1/18 Marcos GT

Above was my wish list in 2007. Happy to see that almost all of my wishes came true!:) One exception is the Boano, but I do have the 410 Superamerica by Hot Wheels which is similar in body style. A new wish of mine is a good version of the 330 LMB in 1:18, so not the Tecnomodel one.

I found one of those Motor City Zagato's on ebay from CMM down in Mexico. He tried to tell me they made it, but the photos said something else. I made a deal with him after the auction closed as he was asking $700.00 US for it. The only thing I do not like about is are the wheels, which I am changing with printed wheels. The best 450S I think is the Profil 24 1/24th kit. One of his best models. I also like his 1/12th Profil 24 Maserati kit, although it has a few problems.

By the way, the 450 Zagato was made by an Italian company, not by Motor City. MG also made the horrible wire wheels.

The quality of the model is good with very good assembly. It says 499 were planned, but as mine is number #31 I doubt they made over 100!!

I might ask CMM if he can make me a kit of the 450S Costin Coupé. As I have the Profil24, another option could be to have it 3D scanned and printed 1/12. Last week I missed out at the last moment on a 1/24 Aardvark Birdcage streamliner kit, so that one stays on the list for a while I'm afraid. The 1/12 151/3 seems a bit too curvy on the pictures I've seen, but it could also be the effect of an extreme wide angle lens.

I would be extremely careful about 3D scanning of any models and increasing their size such as the Profil 1:24 scale kit, which is not perfect. Most cottage industry 1:24 kits have various flaws in at least one or more of the areas of accuracy, detail, and dimensions. Often some, or most of the flaws are not noticeable in their 1:24 scale form, BUT....When you scan and increase the size especially to a much larger scale such as 1:12... you dramatically increase - magnify the existing flaws, thus creating a bad model which needs a lot of extra work to correct..... I'm speaking from personal experience with this. With a shape like the 450S Costin Zagato Coupe has... I can see that one being a huge headache to correct.

You're absolutely right of course. I would indeed limit the size of the model to 1/18.

I tried to contact CMM via Facebook Messenger for a 1/12 kit of the 450S Costin, but no reply yet - it seems they're not very active anymore on their Facebook page. @F1tommy: do you perhaps have his e-mail address?

They never made the 450 Costin in 1/12th scale. It was from Motor City.

Even going from 1:24 to 1:18 you will still encounter magnified flaws.

My favorite, and if it's within your budget and space for display is the 1:12 scale Tamiya model. Not perfect, and could benefit from more detailing, but still overall best bang for the buck. Pics shown are of the one I have which I reviewed years ago for VeloceToday.
