I usually fly to Vegas, but I want to drive the Ferrari over there for the sema show. I just wanted to ask you guys about the valet parking.
Do you guys take the car to self parking, or let the attendant take it, or is there a way to park the car at the front of the hotels yourself.

    Thanks for any advice.

Except for Caesar’s Palace and the Winn, I self park in the valet section of any hotel. Most places park it up front. That way I do not walk far. Always tip on the way in as well as the way out. I do have written permission for some of the hotels. It is nice to show the statements stating I may self-park to some of the yo-yos who think I am a rub.

Some do not understand a front engine V-12 Ferrari versus other things. It needs to be respected. Hustlers need not try to park my beast.

What they tell you and what happens when you get there are two different things. The Venetian. really f*cking pissed me off. The term in their language is "upparking"

I would tip the dude at least $20, and tell him you need easy fast access. Don't parks at the exit doors where suitcases come in and out. People will lean on it for pics, and dump ship by accident.

Tucked across the entrance, or on the side. Call the valet desk ahead and get the guys name. Tell him up-parking, you take care of him with a nice tip, then Aask for him. The big tip is never when you leave....it's first thing when you arrive.

Had great experiences at the Mirage and Palms. Both times there were no questions. Pulled up in an SLR (not mine), valet guy walked over, made eye-contact and then simply pointed to where he wanted the car. Both times we parked just in front of the valet kiosk in a row with other high-end cars. Tipped $20 on the way in and out, took keys with us.

Most valets at the high end casinos are tough jobs to get and held by (relatively) very professional people that wouldn't do anything to risk their cash cow position. Just give a decent tip and don't be an ass.

It's a much different situation here in Vegas than some cheap-o place with zit-faced teenagers parking the cars. IMO, finding a video of kids like that fu<king around with your car on YouTube would almost be as bad as finding a video of someone fu<king around with your wife/girlfriend.

Really depends on the hotel. Some of the hotels have no means to keep a car up front and some have excellent front row parking. One of the best is Mandalay Bay. For a "fee" they will keep your car parked up front and allow in and out access all you want. Other hotels like the Venetian have no means to park your car up front which means I self park!

Good advice thus far. Having worked valet for a couple years, really three important things to self/ safe parking. If you can, talk to the head valet/ doorman when you come in. Always throw at least $20 up front/ have it visible in your hand when you start talking to them. BE NICE. Most will find a way to accommodate you. Worse case if you encounter "we are valet parking only" always ask to be escorted into the garage by them and to and from the car when you need to return/depart.

Only warning about valet parking in Vegas, as I know several people who have been valets there. Vegas hotels tend to have private, well designed valet only garages. I have known a few valets out there who would frequently open cars up to 60+.

Drove there once in the F... Parked at Hard Rock, had them do it... they back it in against a wall, facing the entrance...and its away from any foot traffic...took limos around town till I left.

These guys drive Lambos and Ferraris all day... to move a car 10 yards and park isnt that big of a deal. especially when youre watching them do it and that's what they do all day...?

I would be more worried about leaving my car in a line "up front" or on the side even if they let me do it...

I am more worried about having some tourist lean or scratch it while peeking or admiring... happened to me in SD at Solarmar Hotel. I parked it on the side myself and later I walked out of the hotel and saw some gal laying on the hood while her BF took a picture???!!! unbelieveable... then when i said something to her she responded with you can afford another car wash...?!!?

I usually pull up and ask to speak to the valet manager on duty. I ask him if I can park my car in the front and keep the key. I always give him at least $20 and another $20 on the way out. It's worth it.

I don't like using self park because if your car is up in front the valets can keep an eye on it = no door dings.

    :)
