list all the issues with the car, break down the issues into systems, prioritize the systems and begin working - one system at a time.

PS. Does this mean you bought the Silver 5-speed off of E-bay?

 

Dont want to state the obvious but here goes anyway:

1. Read the handbook - particularly useful for appropriate levels of oil etc... sounds obvious but the min max on the dipstick on my 400i is 4ltrs on the Mondial its different. Also talking about measuring oil depending on the engine does it need to be warm or stone cold?

2. Buy the Parts Manual and Workshop Manual also Electrics Manual and other Manuals (carb set up) specific to the model

3. Build contacts with owners of your model and learn the 'folklore' and idosincracies of the model and Ferraris in general

4. Before starting a project make sure it is the correct one for the sympton being shown - check as above and also with a Ferrari Specialist Garage and parts suppliers and forums like this

5. Take pictures as you dismantle, to help with reassembly

6. Do not get frustrated and abandon the project for more than a week as you will lose momentum and a small job turns the car into a future 'barn find'.

Its our job as owners to invest time and money and one of the paybacks to us is the sense of achievement in keeping these cars in top condition.

 

And, break each thing you want to do into small manageable and completable projects. Even if you take the whole car apart, put it together one project at a time.
