True, but it works both ways. FoS may very well have gotten caught doing something just flat wrong (not to mention illegal).

 

Uh....our local dealership lets pretty much anyone sit in the cars on the showroom floor - within reason. About the only thing the cars suffer from are fingerprints. It helps if you're a Ferrari owner already - you know how to get into and out of the seats properly without wrangling the seat bolsters.

 

Why do you think Ferrari of Seattle is arrogant? I've been treated very nicely by them every time I've wandered into their showroom, even though I am usually just killing time and they don't know if I'm a potential customer or a simple looky-loo (and to be honest, in their case, I am a simple looky-loo).

They've never had a problem with letting me sit in the cars, etc.

Well.... Let me begin, by saying that I surely would not expect or accept snobbery or arrogance, from any entity that is, at least in some manner, attempting to garner my patronage.

I have to assume,

1) The FOS List agreement, is reactive and worded as such, solely for legally protective reasons, as has been mentioned by others earlier.

2) There is always a chance that an event beyond the scope of FOS or any individual Ferrari dealers' control, may prevent delivery on your choice of the current model.

3) That FOS probably has a reasonably good record of client satisfaction and for delivery on it's obligations, or people wouldn't be signing up.

4) A new Ferrari on the showroom floor, could suffer greatly from tire kickers and such, so IMO, it only makes a good bit of sense to "weed out" the viewers, or at least be able to adequately supervise the "viewing."

You can go buy just about any Ferrari model you want....today.
OK, the F430 will have 1K miles on it, and you will pay over MSRP...but so what?
You're rich right, and that extra cash shouldn't keep someone from his dream car, right? I was just at the Wynn and there was a least a dozen of them laying around for you to drive home that day....just give them the cash. They were very friendly (I suppose it helped I had an "owner" ID badge), and liekly would have let me drive and buy anyone of them had I been intent on a purchase.
I have purchased a number of cars at FCI in Geensboro....some sales made just when I was killing time and kicking tires...the sales guy knew how to "sink the hook" as it were. I think they are pretty good at judging characters and knowing when someone has the passion and the means to make a purchase, and beyond the "formative" stage.
I think this "list" thing is a little blown out of proportion to the act of finding a Ferrari you will love and can purchase virtually at will.
