Out for a Sunday drive in my 308, windows down and stereo cranking - life is good. I'm getting ready to shift into 3'rd gear, then all of a sudden, booom - took me a few seconds to figure out what happened. A tree branch fell from a tree and landed on my windshield. It scared the sheot outta me. The branch smashed the windshield, dented and scraped the roof and broke my power antenna.

    Dang.

It's totaled dude. Tell ya what, I got ...... $81.74 in my pocket. Take it off your hands? :D

Just be glad you weren't in an open GTS. Fortunately it looks like an easy enough fix if you can find the windshield.

Ouch! Wrong place at the wrong time unless your sound system is rocking so hard that it broke the branch.

Damn! Somebody up there doesn't like you.

Body work shouldn't be so tough but the window is hard to get right.

    Sorry

OUCH! That sucks - sorry to see and hear about that. Look at it this way: Maybe the windshield, roof and antenna took the damage, but they did their job. Be thankful that you weren't 1 second later - then the tree branch might have fallen and gone *through* the windshield. Insurance and a good glass/body shop will take care of the car, but it would have been MUCH harder to repair you.

Im sorry to hear....look at the bright side, if you were in a ragtop Ferrari it would of hit you or the follow passenger making it for a a potentially worse scenerio.
Consider yourself lucky....get her fixed, and put it behind you...sorry to hear mate !

Dude, sorry to hear about that, what a bummer. I swear to god, this would never in a million years happen if you were driving your daily driver. I often feel like people and inanimate objects are out to get me when I'm in the 308.

Aren't you the one with that wonderful Larini??? Maybe the sound shook the trees making the branch fall.

Sell the exhaust to me for the safety of you and your family.

    No trees in my area.

I second that. It must hurt just to look at that.

    Good luck with the repairs.

I dont know the condition of the car at all, but the only way to remove the dash properly to recover it is with the glass out. And the only way to fix that roof proper is with the headliner out. I found rust working away in my window sill, and again, you have the perfect opportunity to take your time and do some resto work. Turn the frown upside down, it may work out better in the end. If an insurance company can get away with only a windshield and a full repaint (you argue its the only way to make it look right) theyll be pretty happy. Take the check and put some extra labor into the car. The chances may be more in your favor than you imagined. Maybe it was a lucky tree branch.

Glass is something I always worry about. Metal, leather, rubber etc. can be repair easily (ish), but that front windscreen - ouch. A few months ago I spotted all the side window glass for my GT4 down south with a price tag of £150 (6 pieces of glass). Noone bid because it was a collect only. I emailed the guy and hired a car - now I have spare glass on a budget. Just need to find a spare windscreen!

Good luck, I guess the GTS/GTB windscreens may be a little easier to get then a GT4 ? although I heard about a place in Sweden that can make any piece of glass for any car.

Yes, that'll be the place. Oops, Finland rather than Sweden, still only a "short" drive away for me although I read that they ship the screens anywhere.

Any idea how much they cost ?

Make it 2 in 5 million..........I have had a tree branch fall and put a series of dents across my roof, at Val's house.

    Thankfully, it missed the glass!

Thanks for the kind words - maybe the exhaust was at the resonance frequency of the tree limb?

Good news - the glass & metal window trim are available. The bad news, the power antenna is $790 from Ferrari.

I guess thats all the more reason never to listen to the radio. I wonder if the power antenna used on the older MB cars would work. The aerial on those is easily and inexpensively replaceable.
