Did those black california mirrors every come out on the GT4 at any time during its production? I've got the chrome ones at the moment, which look fine, but it's annoying how they're always getting knocked and moved and even at speed they fold back by themselves. bought a set of the black ones from superformance, but i'm just not sure about putting them on.
Yes Pete they did come out on series 2 cars but I dont think on series 1 cars.Maybe in the US but I can't confirm. You can stiffen up the chrome mirrors so that they dont do that anymore. There are 2 screws under the mirror(visible when you remove the mirror from the door) that can be tightened.I had the same thing happen on my car and after I tightened them all was good.By the way are the chrome mirrors Cromadoro Astro?Do you have them on both sides? If you do swap over let me know if you want to get rid of them
yes....both sides....i bought them a couple of months ago. not sure what they're called. standard on Fiat 124s, as well as other things. i know i can tighten them. did it tonight...but when the car's washed they'll still move...or when knocked in a car parks....etc etc.... if the black ones came on the series II, then i might give them a try. if you want some, let me know and i can dig out where i got them from. it was an alfa bloke in melb.
You mean these?? I've got a Ferrari brochure here - not 100% sure what year, it doesn't say. The plastic cover that contains the brochure says 1978 - that shows a silver GT4 with these mirrors. The brochure also has two pages for the US version - with these same mirrors (and boxer trim) Driver side only, in both cases. Oh, and I found another 1 page promotion leaflet, with a red GT4 this time. Also with this mirror on. Again driver side only. Hans Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
so I bought the california for my car. of course, being RHD...i can't get enough adjustment out of the LHS mirror in the direction toward the side of the car! *sigh* anyone else had that problem, or have a fix?
Peter I had exactly the same problem with my passenger side Vitaloni mirror, 1986 328GTS, and the only way I solved the problem was to disassemble the mirror, weld up existing location holes in a small internal bracket and then put in new location holes but moved around just a small amount. I must admit it took two goes before I got it right but now that mirror is perfect. PM me if you would like to discuss further as I am happy to help. Tony
bloody hell!! thanks tony. i put one of those convex stick on mirrors on...that'll do for now....i'll see how it goes. if i hate it, we'll talk! (might be a long convo, by the sound of it)
hehehe....thanks......i'll try that today. if you don't hear from me again, then you know it wasn't totally successful
