I am contimplating buying a Ferrari Mountain Bike..... Based on the components on the bike - and a carbon fiber/aluminum frame, $2600 sounds like a pretty good price...

    Anyone?

The road bikes are a little different each year. They range in price from about $8,000 to $15,000 depending how they are spec'd.

They are usually spec'd with Campagnolo Record components, and often Campagnolo wheels.

well, if you want the Ferrari logo, then great, but if you're interested in cycling, there are many better choices - and from Speedgear ??!! Go to a reputable bike shop!

I haven't been into mountain bikes for a few years (into tri bikes though!), but the way that's specc'd - can't see much from the pictures - I'd say it probably belongs in the $900 range - maybe less? Anyone?

For a full Carbon Bike with those components, I think that it is a decent deal. However, I also think that having the "Ferrari" on the bike is adding $300 to $600. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, you can get a better deal on a better bike if you are willing to go without the Ferrari label. But, having a bike that was built specifically for the Ferrai market might be pretty cool, especially if you are a Ferrari nut like most of us on this board.

I hate to say it, but I think most other cyclists will laugh at you if you have a Ferrari logo bike, especially a lower end mountain bike. Also, the road bike in the pictures is not the one he is thinking about getting - it's the Aluminum (maybe with carbon too) bike on the speedgear site.

I wasn't thinking of it as a "mountain" bike. It was cool 'cause it was licensed by Ferrari, and might be fun for around-town chores.

I use a Merlin for "real" riding. It is full Ti, with serious components. I really couldn't give a rats a** what anyone thinks of me on a Ferrari bike; it's sort of like wearing a Ferrari shirt to me... I just wanted to know if anyone had one - or might be able to shed some light on thier quality.

Hey, sorry it wasn't a personal attack - but based on your original post it sounded like you wanted a "Ferrari Mountain Bike." Anyway, my feeling as a former bike shop mechanic is that these car branded mountain bikes are typically not a good value. Reminds me of the Ferrari branded Segway in the other thread.

Merlins are cool - a guy I used to work with had one and loved it - rode it every day.

If you guys want to see something really pathetic do a search for Lamborghini branded bikes on eBay!

Although the bike pictured is a CF Colnago road bike, I don't believe its the model made for Ferrari but a Replica. Google, Colnago for Ferrari and check out the CF1, CF3 and the latest 60th Anniversary Limited Edition.

That would be for the upper end CF complete bikes. Colnago never shipped complete bikes until most recently. The dealers typically built up the bikes with Shimano Dura Ace or Campagnolo Record. They also produce more competitively priced models made from Columbus and carbon.

I thought there was a 'special edition' carbon-fiber version of a F-bike that every dealor was getting 1 and the cost was something like $25K.

All the Colnago for Ferrari bikes have always been CF. For 2008 there are two Ferrari road bikes. The 60th Annivsery 'Limited' Edition, approx. 12K (60 bikes) and The 60th Anniversary Edition, approx. 10K (199 bikes). Aside from the factory production ID sticker and wheels there is no difference.

It is NOT a bargain! You are paying bigtime for the name and panache. If that's what you want, and are willing to pay that, fine. However a comparably equipped C50 Colnago will be in the $6-7K range; furthermore, when you buy the Ferrari/Colnago (or any of Colnago's special-package bikes), you are buying their total package- you have no personal choice in cranks, headset, wheels, handlebars, et al. My 2cts. (BTW my other Italian "car" is a Colnago C40)

Agree. However, a new Campy equipped Colnago C50 with the 'right' gear is closer to $7,500+. I'm on a Carbonissimo and C50. IMO Colnago makes some of the finest full CF off the rack bikes in the world. And if you have any interest in a custom fit CF bike check out...http://www.parleecycles.com/

Agreed! C50 is the way to go... with 3 F cars in the garage, I still decided to pass on the "logo" model, and get a c50 done my way. what a fantastic ride!!!
