This sounds like a good idea but I already contacted and have a Sheriff who sits in my driveway at times during the week. We got a ricer about a 1/2 mile away who uses our road to tune up his and his buddies rice burners. Can't take the fart can exhausts anymore.

For those crying that they don't want to hear the neighbors' cars, either get more insulation or a house in the country. Urban living means having people within hearing distance.

And it seems like ever since caffene became "bad" that "fast" is anything faster than a tranquillized snail.

I often have to feather the clutch in first to keep from overrunning traffic around here (even on "main" roads) -- how do they get cars to go that *slow*?

People talk about the roads being "busy", but tonight (coming home from overtime late), there were exactly two other cars on the two lane road ... yep, right next to each other, doing five miles per decade.

This has become a society of aggresive incompetence. People insist that *everyone* become a useless looney (so they can be one without feeling bad about it).

With that level of self-esteem gone epidemic, no wonder every other ad on TV is for "erectile disfunction".

    Sheesh.

Can cops enforce speed limits in private, gated, communities? Or are the speed limit signs merely suggestions? I ask because I know someone who went through a stop sign in a gated community and cop gave him a ticket. The guy went to court and said the sign was a suggestion since it's not public roads, but rather private. The traffic violation was dropped. Does this work for the speed limit?

+1 I'm not even going to pretend that I obey all speed limits, but one place that I'm careful NEVER to speed is in neighborhoods/residential areas. I would participate in something like this. I'm constantly shouting at the stupid kids/ and even more the soccer moms that fly by my house. I've got little brothers that like to play outside, I don't want anything happening to them.

I actually have a neighbor who came up to my house to tell me how much he enjoys the sound of the Dino as it goes by. I obey the speed limit, but I also hang in first gear and cath maybe 3500-4000 rpms in my neighborhood. Much of that has to do with a couple folks complaining that my kids park on the street, and they wish they wouldn't. it "cheapens" the look of the neighborhood.

Soooo sorry about that. I guess the Honda and the Subaru just don't pass muster.

As to speed limits. I don't know about other places, but in PA, yellow speed limit signs are suggested speeds, used for on ramps, etc, and the white signs are required speed limits.

My business is on a private road, no speed limit signs. It's where I break in new brake pads now and then. Not easy to find places where there's no traffic, no people, and 80 to 0 hard braking is legal.
