I find it funny that this guy is comparing a Viper and S2000 to a 355, and still the 348 is the ugly car?

How many miles on it now?

I just bought a 355 spider a few weeks back...........check my profile pic.

I realized that I had your/my 348 pic in my profile up until a few days ago.

    Sorry about the copyright

the 355 is heavier and doesnt go as fast or handle as well as the 360, and i should know as i once owned both cars at time same time for several months and my brother and i went back and forth btw the two cars on several occassions....the 355 is s2000 like with its high reving engine and low torque...but one big difference...the 355 repair and maintenece costs can cost more than a used s2000!!!! so i would be leery of putting 20000 hard track miles on a 355 with a hugh budget for this....If you want a cheaper mid engine car, how about a boxster s...its bullet proof, cheap to run and with some mods to add a few hp can be a monster on the track...the newer boxster s can probably go toe to toe with a stock 355 on the track or be pretty close.....

The OP could always consider a 355 Challenge if he's looking for a track car. Generally cheaper than road cars they take the abuse better and are purpose designed track cars. Depending on who you believe, 95 CH cars may even be road registered.

The rebuild costs are high on all 355s but with an ever increasing supply of aftermarket parts available that are better than OEM, rebuild frequency should decrease.

Finally the most important factor in this scenario is buying the right car. A sorted, properly maintained 355 is likely to cope with hard driving quite well. A neglected car with unaddressed "issues" will be a money pit. A BIIIIIIIG money pit.....

i own a 06 viper and usto own a 98 355 6 spd, they are 2 diffrent cars, the viper is american muscle loves to be driven hard, speed shifts,355 you cant do speed shifts over and over like the viper you will break something in the 355 and you will pay big,i loved my 355 and i would buy another one again its pure class and runs great and the sound at 7k is just music to the ears, but i would not leave the viper for a 355.355 would not be able to hang with a viper again 2 diffrent cars.

Congrats on the new car! Looks awesome! The 348 is doing well, she has 28,000 on her now. All and all it's been a good car. Hope all is well - let me know what you think of the 355.
