Jon - back in 1993 I saved my house by standing on the roof for 24 hours hosing the embers and flames. All the houses around me burned to the ground. We lost 300 homes here in Laguna.

I wish you would get your hose out and put out that fire, the smoke up here a few miles away is killing me. I do hope that your home was not involved. Some friends in Rancho Santa Fe had to evacuate. I do not yet know whether their home is still standing.

I'm back in my home, but we won't have power until Saurday. I'm at my daughter's for dinner, so I'll post some photos a little later. With 1500 homes burned we should start hearing about the rare an exotic cars that were left behind.

First, glad you're all safe. Second, glad that Dino wasn't roasted. That would have been unfathomable, and I suspect would have driven a couple dozen guys into severe withdrawl, and there's no methadone maintenance replacement therapy for this thread!

That is some incredable luck, did you allways keep the brush around your homes at bay just as general practice, because if it was your landscaper you owe him a BIG bonus after this is all sorted out...

It's great to see that your safe and that your properties are also safe... But is there smoke damage? those fires where pretty big I wonder if your whole housde smells like smoke or just like you had a nice fireplace fire going in the house?

    Jon & Family,

I'm so relieved that you folks dodged that horrible fire laden torpedo. Maybe Enzo reached down to push a flying red ember off target. Thank God:)

    Cheers (bitter sweet, albiet),

    Hank

At least you were around to take care of things and not on vacation! I am glad to see that your house survived. I am still trying to track down some other PCA / FCA members in the area to see how they are. Andrew

I've been at home for a few days now cleaning up. They say no power for maybe 2 weeks! A friend brought over a generator so we at least have some lights. The cable is down so no computer, but my kids are close so I can go there. Tomorrow, finally is engine day and Tuesday the windshield is going in. Bill from GT Parts also called to say my interior was FINALLY sent out from Italy. Back on track now starting tomorrow. I can't wait, it's been about 3 months since I've done any meaningful work on the car. I sold my Challenge Stradale last week and will hopefully be high on the dealers list for a 430 Scuderia. Thanks for all the concern that was shown regarding the fires. Hopefully photos tomorrow.

An oldie but a goodie (post 1136 03/24/07).

First, glad to see that you and yours are all well after the fires.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you do the Ferrari shield on your epoxied floor? What a great look!

    Al

I had it printed on vinyl, then stuck it to the floor (vinyl was adhesive backed) then epoxy over it.

    Absolutely stunning!!! Beautiful!!

A couple of quick questions, if you don't mind.

    1) Who did/does your chrome work?

    2) What spray adheasive are you using for the leather work?

    Thanks!

    Shiny Side Up!
    Bill

3M has good adhesive for upholstery, perhaps the 3M marked "80" is best, you can find at Home Depot

Okay, back to work except for the fact I'm leaving for Utah for a few days to visit son #2 Jeff. Retightened the heads after letting them sit awhile and did the chain tensioners. My engine test stand arrived today (I have to put it together) so it's getting closer. I put all the new bushings in for the targa top, some leather pieces, the gas door, some rubber trim the sun shades and the front windshield is ready to put in.

Should the gas panel interior area be black ?

Is the gas cap from the F360?

Can't wait to hear the engine run, is there a way you can record it firing up for us to hear?

Great job you WILL have a better than new car when you are done here...
