    Many, many thanks, again. ;)

It seems it will be worth a plane ticket or two to conduct a solid test-drive. From my experience with each make, they behave rather differently on the road. I truly enjoyed my expereinces in BMWs, 3 and 5 series. I've never driven a Jag, only been a passenger. I tend to like more feel, more edge, more feedback, e.g., a friend owns an RX-8 that I absolutely love.

Again, many thanks. This is the type of information that one usually does not discover until several months or years AFTER the purchase.

Well in both you have feel edge and feedback. This is what is good in them, they are not so disconnected from the road as the new E66 or the CL63 AMG are. If you were a BMW person you might have some bias in your choice. I had a Daimler before too, it's a completely different story, the XJR compared to the Daimler (which was a 6 cyl) is much more rough. Many owners buy the XJR just for the kicks, and actually the car is much much more than that.

To balance the fact i'm pushing you towards the Jag, i join a pic of a 7 series that emphasises the design and beauty of its lines.

Here you go, 2002 Silver XJ. :) It's a sport, not an R. Same as the R, only no supercharger. I've noticed here that nobody that has owned a Jag in the last 10 years is telling you to buy the BMW.
