Well, at least, I think so. What I want is a drop top daily driver that has some soul. Tonight, I saw a black 325i that looked pretty cool. Whata you think? This wasn't a current model. It was a little more square cut, if you understand what I mean. Is this the way to go, or should I get a Sebring... (Mega Not!) Dale
Yeah, I do like CLKs, haven't thought about that. On the other hand, I have never owned a Bimmer, so maybe it is time... Dale
I have seen a few new 335i cab and they do look very good with the hard retractable top . Plus 305 hp is not too shabby.
A new 328 convertible has 230 hp and in the states will start at about $45,000. I think the 328's look very stylish, coupe or sedan. Just FYI they don't make the 325 any more and depending on the year, they aren't very peppy. I'm a big fan of buying used to save a few bucks but I think it's best to get as much warranty as possible on this car.
Wow, I'm always surprised at the different prices in the USA. Go to http://www.bmwusa.com/BMW2003/Templates/CPO/CpoMain.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID=%7b90DD3101-A9A2-49E6-88CD-C435B494AEE9%7d&NRORIGINALURL=%2fcpo%2fcpomain%3fnavid%3dmodelsearch%26source%3dUSACPOMSTOPNAV&NRCACHEHINT=Guest&navid=modelsearch&source=USACPOMSTOPNAV and search 3 series, if I was looking for one, this would be the ticket. Make a deal with your nearest dealer for them to get the car and you'll bring the car to them for service for as long as you own it. That way after a small deposit you can inspect it, then buy it {if it comes as described as advertised}.
You probably saw the last body style....e46. Still a great looking car to me. I'm happy with my 335. Although run flat tires suck.
No, no, no, yo no quero a new car. Been there, ain't doing the depreciation boogie no more. In fact, $10k is my budget. Okay, maybe $5k is tops. So what about a 1995 325i convertible for, say, $5k? Or say a 1998 328i for around $8k? Or a 2000 323i or maybe $10k? I guess I should mention that this car will replace a 1989 MB SEL 420. Dale
Well this is a whole new thread. A '98 328 with 120,000 miles would sell for 8k {as an average, in some places it will be cheaper and a private sale is the way to go on a budget}. Make sure it's a manual. All of your numbers check out, the '98 328 would be my selection, just make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth comb, there are a lot of cars out there so there is no need to get one that's in need of too much service.
The new 3 series convertible is the first that does not scream "chick car" to me. I have never been a big fan of the 3 series in the past, but the new version looks pretty good.
White/Tan, A good #3 car, 110k miles. Everything works, however, the tranny will probably go in another 25k miles or so. Only one quirk. When hot, you have to hold the starter on longer than what you would think is necessary. Probably some confusion in the injection system. It's not for sale yet. Just thinking. I would go with the 2000 323i. Our family had one, and it was really fun to drive and reliable. We sold it with 190,000+ miles, and in that time period the only major thing that needed to be fixed in that time period was the clutch at 160,000 miles. The car could easily have gone above 250,000+ miles without a major problem.
My wife has had a number of 3 series converts and now drives a CLK 55 convert. All were nice cars and drive well. My personal pick would be the last generation CLK 55 convert (up to 02 I think). It has a more masquline look with the squared body and that beautiful V-8. Very reasonably priced also. Darrell. PS. Should pick them up under 30k.
