It's called "Swatters Blue", which I hadn't heard/seen before. To me it appears very close to TDF, which is what I wanted. Tony.
Great car Tony. I think they are still amongst the best Ferrari designs ever. The color is named after Jacques Swatters, the Ferrari concessionaire in Belgium. Similarly Pozzi Blue is named after Charles Pozzi the Ferrari importer in France.
So that begs the oblivious question, why is TDF blue named after the TDF? If anything, it should be a TDF Yellow for the yellow leader shirt in the TDF.
Great car! The 8-cylinder cars have become bloated (size and weight) and less attractive after the beautiful 355. Tour de France also was a sports car race held on roads around France, first held in 1899 but halted due to safety issues. Obviously there are vintage Ferrari with the TdF designation, but I don't have the slightest idea how TDF blue is linked to history......no doubt Marcel Massini could explain it all to us! I believe that Tour De France Bleu was the color of the French entries in the TDF car car race. Blue is the competitive color of France in international competition and in car races in the last century cars ran in their national colors - Blue for France, Green for Britain (hence British Racing Green), Silver for Germany (the Silver Arrows Mercedes Benzes), Red for Italy, White for Japan etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colors
I agree with the previous comments: I really like the blue. Very nice. GTS - pretty rare. How did you find it ...... F. market letter, friend, ebay ?????? Please excuse my boldness, I honesty don't mean to pry but I was curious. Took us 8 months to find ours. Would you mind posting more pics (inside, outside, engine). Beautiful car - very excited for you. michael brown (328)
Agreed... But it's somewhere around 18miles. I'm always around your area now Tony and I never see you out and about in your toys... Saw a nice 993 in red today though on Guadalupe & the 202.
Sorry, I'm not being stalkerish, I was just curious, maybe I couldve gotten a ride to Cars and Coffee.
I have been driving the TR for the last week or so, but developed a HUGE fuel leak on Sunday, so it's on it's way to Andy today. I leave for work pretty early now (5am) and come home down the 202 SanTan, I guess I go fast enough that no one see's me. Will be driving the E34 M5 (avua blue) or the Noble for a few days. Tony
Found it on ebay. Bought it from Naples Motorsports. It has a few issues, nothing that I can not overcome. Will need a few bucks put into it but then again, don't all Ferrari's? These photo's are from their website. beautiful car. The GTS was my first car and the one I miss the most - in my opinion one of the best sounding f-cars produced and one of the last "true" sports cars made by ferrari....slow windows, poor a/c, etc...but the beauty and experience is fantastic. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy it. Great color as well.
Tony, Great color combo!! I think you have a European model. I have a US model, would like to put them side by side one day and see what differences there are. Drive it and enjoy it! Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login
