You should use them up and then sell the leftover bits to the Dismantlers! ;)

I've got maybe another 10 years before it will be a struggle to get OUT of the 308. I'll either rig up a lift to get me out or install a bathroom in the car. HAHAHA , then I'll have to sell it.

Figure I've got about 25 more years of driving, but assuming I don't drop dead before I'm too decrepit to drive it:

Since both my sons are car buffs, If either of them wants it, it'll go to him. If both want it, then each gets a half;)
If neither wants it, it'll be up for sale.

First of all, the very first time I heard of someone being buried in their car I thought it was selfish. If everyone who died was buried in their Ferrari, there wouldnt be any left. So thats right out, they should be passed on.

My daughter is now 10 years old. She asks questions, she watches some of the races, she even cries during the Enzo movie. Time will show how she matures, maybe as an adult she will shun that stuff. But the point is that there are people out there with real passion. If I live long enough to no longer be able to drive, and if I still have a Ferrari, my quest will be to offer the car to someone worthy. My hope would be for someone 100 years from now to be driving a 308. Of course if they keep catching fire and burning to the ground through lack of maintainance, that may be difficult.

It was my Grandfather on my mother's side who got me into cars more than anybody else. He appreciated them all, but this was the 50s, and he was mostly into the big stylish Detroit iron. He always kept two - usually the biggest Cadillac or Buick for Sunday best, and an Oldsmobile 98 or big Mercury or such for work. Two of his very best favorites were the old Cord 812 and the Chrysler 300.

He gave up the last Cadillac at the time he decided (for himself) to hang up his keys. Funny thing, though - he just had to hang on to the Oldsmobile, (and actually traded it in every year like usual for a new one right up to his death). He had me park my 911T Targa in the Caddy spot, and I always drove him where he needed - sometimes the Targa, sometimes the Olds. He also made it a big point to keep his drivers license current (just in case, you know - my grandmother never drove, and he did not really trust my mom).

He made me kick that big Olds 98 up to 100 the last time we drove into town together (and looked to make sure I had done the deed). When he died, I ended up with the 98 and it only had a few hundred miles on the odometer. It was the last thing a 21 year old kid with a Porsche would want (it was baby blue), but I kept it around for a couple of years just out of respect.

I finally gave it to my sister when they needed a tow car for their travel trailer (they had a short notion of wanting to be traveling religious volunteers). That big 455 made it a pretty good puller.

I pretty much plan to cut my cars down to about 2 (or maybe 3) after retirement and hang onto them until the end like R.J. did.

The Velostrada link talks about a '65 ferrari that was a lemans winner and given up to the local roman teenagers so that they can learn to drive with it. I like the idea, but it is way off into the future. I was surprised to see how easily my grandmother jumped in my ferrari for the first time, at an age somewhere between 65-80 (you know a real lady never tells that stuff), it seemed easier than when she enters her towncar.
