Just a curiosity question really. I have owned mine for 7 1/2 years. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I was driving down that country lane for the first time smiling from ear to ear:)

My Dad brought the Daytona in 1975, when I was 2 and I inherited it on my 30th birthday. He paid about £7,500 for it, not sure what that would equate to today.

Absolutely although as I don't have any kids at the moment that should leave me with a good 30 + years to enjoy the car!

7,500 doesn't sound much but I seem to remember my grandparents paying somewhere around 6000 quid for their detached house in 79 or 80. I lust after a Daytrona BTW. Beautiful car.

At the time due to the oil crisis people were struggling to give Daytona's away, Dad looked at about 20 and brought the one that was the least rusty (baring in mind the car was less than 2 years old at the time)! At the time he was offered an Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato for around £4500, but he wanted something newer to use as an everyday car!

DB4 GTZ Ooooooooo I bet he kicks himself now :)

I nearly bought a Daytona about 3 or 4 years ago.
The car needed everything. I'd looked at it and shook on the price. He then rang me the next day with a raised price. I wasn't impressed.

Sorry for the thread deviation guys :)

Actually no the Daytona was his everyday car for the first 4 years and some 40,000 miles, and it would have been difficult to use a DB4 GTZ for the same. Since the Daytona he has had 21 other Ferrari's to keep him occupied! The Daytona is for sentimental reasons my favourite (as well as IMHO its the best looking Ferrari). A few pics (first one by me second one courtesy Mark Shannon and the third courtesy Jonathan Tremlett)
