Luca M said I need much more power and better looks after being blown off by a Fiat and embarassed in his 348 then the 355 was born which was why the 355 is a giant leap above the 348, peoples jobs depended on making it much better and they succeded, not such a big jump or difference in performance with a 355 vs 360 more looks, the 355 looks tiny and compact compared to a 360 which is a big car.

Had a 328 and the 355 gets a lot of respect from car and bike guys from its performance, the 328 didn't get much respect at all unfortunately for it.

Personally, I always wanted a 348 spider for as long as I can remember and that is what I purchased and I love my car.
Nothing against a 355, it was just my preference and I don't aspire to own a 355, I am more than happy with my choice.
Here's one for the brotherhood ;)

As a previous owner of a 348SS for 7 years I would have another in a minute. In fact I had owned both 355 & 348 for about a year before I decided to sell the 348 couldn't justify both cars. They are uniquely different from each other and that makes them both entertaining in different ways. Regards, Vern

Vern... you have a 355C.... it doesn't get much better than that IMO.... :)!! I have been pondering a 1995 355GTB then go with a bare bones interior, similar to the F40/360CS....

What does your 355C interior look like?? Post pics if you can :)!!

Thanks Oz yeah I would humbly agree it has been a great way to experience the 355. The first pic is of the interior when I brought the car home 5 yrs ago. The 2nd one is after I put carpet and door panels on. The reason for doing that was I bought a guys take off parts from a '95(converted to the race specs) to get the sun visors and head lights, he wouldn't sell me just those parts I ended up with a whole **** pile of stuff so I thought I would put those 2 to some use. Funny thing is I never have put the head lights in, ie; have to be home before it gets dark hahaha. Regards, Vern

    Hey Vern,

Is your's a 355C that was raced? The reason I ask is I was at the dealer in my 348C buying new non-sticky vents (What a rip off that is) and the sevice guy said they used to rip out the vinyl/leather dash on the challenge cars anyway. I have pictures of mine when it was raced and it looks like the dash, vents included, is all in the car.

I like the aluminum floor! Looks like the new 430 scuderia.

I actually highly regard the concept of the 348 and it's place in history now; as said above it's a 'modern' Ferrari, good power, and great driver input needed. If it weren't for the wheels and side + tail light cheese graters I would've been more tempted. Sure those could be changed...but then it becomes closer to a 355. So to me the real debate would be 348 or 328, and I'd have to go for the 328.

Richard, Yes my car ran in the series 1998, 1999 and some of 2000 it was at Indy in 2000 for a pre race to the F1 race and also was flown to Italy for the finals in late '99. I have a picture from Forza Mag. Apr. 99, pg. 22 of it on the track during the race. Also have quite few pics of it in various races thru it's career taken by Bruce Miller
all of the 355CHs I have seen raced and non raced cars had the console and dash still in them but no carpet no door panels no air bags no moldings around the windshield no sun visors and power windows still installed. Don't remember any 348 during the time they were in the series that were gutted that much but it has been awhile since that time.

The headlights are blanks. The covers are the same as if there were headlights under them but there is nothing there no light no motor etc.

The service notes show it was weighed in 1999 and it came in at 3069 lbs. it probably weighs a little more since the addition of street tires and door panels.

348 is a good bang for the bang so to speak ....

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137192643&postcount=1

    Fiorano lap times.

Using the above data, I did a comparison of laptime vs hp to figure out how much of that extra hp translated itself into lap time improvement.

I took the 328 as the benchmark and computed delta laptimes and delta horsepower (Euro figures) for each Ferrari model against the 328. Then I computed the Delta laptime/hp, i.e. the seconds gained in Fiorano for every 1 hp increase over the 328.

    Example: take the 360 Modena
    Bhp = 400
Delta Bhp over 328: 130 (Euro 328 has 370 bhp)
    Delta laptime: 14 seconds

    Delta laptime/bhp = 0.108 (=14/130)

Looks like the 348 is the best bang for the bang with the CS coming in second place.

The lap times used were for a '89 348. What would they be for '92 or '93 348 with updated suspension.

The 348 challenge lap times are better than the '95 355 and equal to the 355 F1. The 348 challenge is the best bang for the buck.

I like the 355, but love my 348.
Besides, if I moved to a 355 I'd have to change careers, to a hairdresser.

Here's the way I look at it:

The 355 is the better car
The 348 is the better value

I personally know a 355 owner who sold it and bought a 328 this year. I think the opening post here overgeneralized -- a lot. Chalk it up to enthusiasm?

We are all different..........personally I will never get rid of my 348 because it is a dream coming through since 1990. My uncle bought a red TS brand new and I thought............if ever, I will have the same one..........but yellow. No 355, no 360, no F40, just the 348 TS Giallo.................nothing more nothing less.

However after a few rides together with the FOC of Sweden I have come to the conclusion I would just love to buy a red 328.

Not as a substitute rather as one more.

My personal opinion is that the 328 is the most beautiful F-car ever made.

Guess we are all insane one way or the other.
