It seems you can't drive your car in So. Ca without those little yellow spots magically appearing on your car. It drives you nuts. What the hell is it? Some errant humming birds or vigilantly caterpillars? Nope, it's neither but read this. BTW, soot from the fire wreaks havoc on your car's paint if it's allowed to stay on for a while.

Here's the buzz on those spots on your car

PS - If you can't read it I'll post the article :)

I've always wondered what those were!

Sometimes I'll even get it right after washing the car. I guess I'm going to stay away from flowers?

No kidding. I would never have guessed it. It always gets all over my boat, and is a pain to get off the interior.

    Finally!!!! someone with an answer.

I have asked so many people about this and have gotten dozens of answers, most of which made no sense. Like. "it's tree sap," when there isn't a tree in sight. Of course, most people look at you with that "why do you even care" look.

Best one, stated with much conviction, was that the stuff was from airplane toilets. Since a lot of us live within sight of the LAX corridor that one was interesting.

I also wondered why I never seemed to find a spot on me or my clothing. I walk 2-4 miles almost every morning. But alas, over the past year I have indeed taken a couple of direct hits myself.

I don't find them that hard to remove. Maybe because I don't leave them on for long.

I always got the hummingbird thing.

Maybe those dang bees are getting back at us before they all croak..... Al Gore was right, it's all global warming induced ;)

I always thought those spots were fallout from a high flying small bird.
