Maybe Montoya needs a new teammate. Lets see how many more bridges Alonso can burn.

    autosport.com reports the same thing.

So where will Fred go, now that "Fred's out"?

And who will replace Fred at McLaren??

Seems reasonable that he could replace Phil at Ferrari. Massa's new contract probably has lots of outs for both parties. Given L.d.M.'s recent comments re: Alonso it wouldn't surprise me at all. Frankly I'd like to see Alonso at Ferrari, all the Alonso-bashers here notwithstanding.

I hope Alonso joins Mansell in stock cars.

I really hope they don't release Phil from his contract for next year. He did a great job this year, and even handed the race to Kimi in Brazil for the title. I don't really want to see Alonso in a red car to be honest, at least not in the near future. Hopefully he'll get into a BMW or another team somewhat close to the top so that next season will be even more exciting than this year.

Alonso has started acting more like a WDC since he lost the title to Kimi than while he had it.

Dennis has been quiet too. Even Lewis has been silent.

Have they suddenly gotten lockjaw? Or did somebody give these people "nice" pills?

My guess is that as part of the contract to cancel Alonso's contract, all parties had to agree to not comment on each other. This not only included the partities involved but their relatives, associates and employees.

This makes sense as it's easier for McL to get another driver and Alonso to find another team without a name calling fight going on in public.

Too bad it took losing a championship for Alonso to act like a champion. And too bad it took losing a former WDC for Dennis to act the the owner of a championship team.

Ironic (iRONic) how things turn out. I am enjoying it. ;)

    McLaren don't deny 'axed' rumours
    Monday 5th November 2007

Despite claiming that it was by mutual consent that Fernando Alonso left McLaren on Friday, rumours suggest the Spaniard was in fact fired.

McLaren announced on Friday afternoon that Alonso had left the team with immediate effect in what they billed as a "mutual parting of ways."

However, there are rumours that the double World Champion simply has his contract terminated after he failed to abide by McLaren's guidelines of team equality and how they expect their drivers to behave.

Throughout the season Alonso was dogged by controversy as first he fought McLaren for number one status - something they would not give him - and then he provided key evidence against them in the Stepneygate scandal.

And although McLaren are refusing to comment on the rumour, team boss Ron Dennis did hint that there may be some truth to it.

"We are a team, and if someone does not want to play his team role, then he should not be part of the team," he said.

Meanwhile other reports claim that Alonso has been warned by McLaren that he could face legal action should he continue with his public tirade against Dennis and McLaren.

Kyle, I agree wholeheartedly about Phil. It would be cold and heartless for Ferrari to drop Massa after his continued improved driving and as you say, giving up the one race he most wanted to win.

I do think Alonso is a very good driver but really don't much care where he goes as long as its not Ferrari!

And that is the crux of the issue. I wonder who will sign him knowing he would rat an entire team out for his own benefit at the drop of an email...

He probably means the guy in Talladega Nights.

If people don't say what they mean do they mean what they say? ;)
