Absolutely amazing! You do great work.

One suggestion though. Don't use those hose clamps. If you look at the originals, you will see that the clamps don't have cut-out slots for the adjusters, they are stamped. The cut-out style like you have can/will cut through the hose when tightened down, compromising the integrity of the hose. The stamped style do not do this. We will only use the stamped style for any of our cars because we have had more than 1 problem with the slot style clamps. Just a suggestion.

The clamp in the back ground of your photo are the style you want to use. You can also get them in SS.

    HTH,
    Tony.

Where do you buy these clamps? I mlloked at Mcmaster and couldn't find them. I had no choice but to use these. My hose thickness is pretty thick, so I am not too concerned with it tearing into the hose since I am using the extra thick rubber. But I do agree with you on the clamps. Any idea where to buy?

We buy them from Winzer (www.winzerusa.com). We have a rep that comes in once a month and we stock order them. Wurth also makes them.

    HTH,
    Tony

Awesome job on the car!!! Can't wait to see it finished.

What a great thread. Awesome. I have been very curious as to the inner workings of a TR, and this was great.
Agreed on the powdercoating. I have restored several 928s and here are pics of 2 different intakes, one in silver and one in red. The red was a base coat of "chrome" with a red tinted clear coat over the top. Yours looks better in straight red.
The hardware and brackets were done the same with chrome base and gold tinted clear over the top to look like the original zinc plating.

    Beautiful stuff!!!!!

Great job! It seems likes you spend as much time documenting as you do with the actual work. This may sound crazy, but its posts like these that make you realize that these are do-able. I look forward to more.

I go away for a couple of weeks come back and find the best thread ever on this site.

Reading this makes me think my poor TR has been neglected.

Don't suppose you're heading over to England soon and fancy having a go at mine?

Keep the updates coming, I'm loving this.

You should be writing restoration books for professionals. Truly impressive work. Keep it up.

Your local snap-on man could really help you be a total pro, like clam shell race pullers and stud removers, you should replace those studs removed by double-nutting, also snappy will save your life by grabbing that drop light outta your shop and getting you a floresent, that light is a monster fire hazzard. Like your details, thanks for your effort.

"Snap-Off" makes great tools but they're an incredible waste of money.

Craftsman works fine for me. If i break something I can return it no questions asked. Snap on are nice but paying double the price isn't for me. Never had a problem with craftsman tools.

Engine is going back in the AM Sunday!
