Very cool pictures from Le Mans 1964!
GTO n° 25 is #4399GT and was entered by Maranello Concessionaires. Innes IRELAND and Tony MAGGS were the drivers.

Vintage Days-Mid-Ohio-June 2007. They did not track the car. No such thing as the most beautiful car, but this is close.

The pictures Tad posted were one of the practice crashes. I was at that race, the crash that occured on the saturday evening of the race with the Merc was with Peter Dumbreck at the wheel. The car ended up the other side of the armco albeit right side up.

I watched it live on the screen with about 5,000 others. The whole place went deadly silent until the car landed. Thankfully Peter D was OK. Merecedes withdrew their cars after that.

Great thread Christian. All my Le Mans pictures are on old pre-digital film. I'll have to start scanning. :)

Actually my best moment I have no photos of. I was part of the Aston Martin team that ran the AMR1s. One of my tasks was to go to the motorhome (Caravan) and wake the drivers in time for their stint in their respective car.
Brian Redman, who I hold in the highest regard, was due to drive the Aston lead car (#18) to the finish. During the walk from the slepping quarters to the Pits he told that of all the times he had been to LeMans this would be the first time he would be in a car when it crossed the finishing line. I was startled that this great racing driver had not done that one thing and that it seemed to mean so much to him.
Needless to say when the checkered flag fell I was crying like a baby. I was so happy for him, Richard Williams, and Peter Livanos. Just to finish LeMans to me is one of the great accomplishments in motorsport. One of my very fondest memories.

    David
