I've noticed that both my 328 driving lights don't work. While trying to find out how to replace the light bulbs (anyone knows how ?!?!?!?) I've noticed I have a loose wire inside the right side fender. It's a pink/black wire which, according to the wiring diagram, is exactly the driving light wire ..... but I can't find where should it connect to !

    So I have two questions:

1- how do you get to the driving light bulbs? I'm guessing I need to remove the lower access panels and reach the lights from underneath. Is that correct?

2- could anyone please check were does the pink/black wire connect to inside the right side fender? There is a white plastic protection for the connector itself, and I can't see any loose wire that should attach to this one

    Thanks !

    Rui

There are a few previous topics on this, do a search. My car (Euro, German) was pre-wired but non-connected for driving lights - only flasher-use (I suppose same as yours). Dummy switch on the center console. One of those things on my 'to do' list also .....

Don't remove acces panels, just unscrew the screws in the smaller lightcovers, than unscrew retaining bolts of actual light housing, gently pull out. Next, go wash the black muck of your hands :)
I'm thinking of using my rear fog light switch for the driving lights, powering a seperate relay + fuse and power directly from battery. It's 55 Watts, twice ....

BTW your actual headlights require removal of the shrouds, as depicted.

    Here's a few pics:

    Thanks ! Great info!

I just came back from the garage and here's what I've found:

    - both light bulbs are ok
    - the switch on the center console is no dummy
    - the pink/black wire I've found is not "live" (no 12v) when I turn on the front driving lights, so it must come from the lamps

So were should the live wire come from ?! Any ideas ?

Use the search function in the upper left corner of the page, it has been covered a couple times. That was how I figured it out to change out the bulbs on my previous 328. I forgotten now... :(

The lightcluster-housing has 1 'ball-joint' mount for adjustment; you have to pull it out of it's socket (gently). You can see the socket in the lower picture, left of the yellow/black wire.

After a (long) night, I've managed to get both lights to work! The problem was the connectors not connecting :) Both ground connections weren't working, so after a bit of cleaning and WD40, all is well now.

Thanks for your help Kingpin328 !

Glad you succeeded - now get us some day and night shots please!

I bought a fog light switch and a driving light switch used, set me back nearly € 80. But then again, perhaps not too bad for switchgear type unobtainium :D
