Just got this, and was wondering which season the pit shirt was from as I'd like to frame it up nicely, with the description of the season, and hopefully some nice relevant pictures which I will search online based on this season. Thanks in advance. Would appreciate any kind guidance my fellow fchatters can provide.

It's from 1996 though the MS signature (I'm sorry to say) is not real.

    Hi Morry,

How can you tell? where are the inconsistencies? As fakes go its one of the better ones no?

the "M" character is wrong, as is the last 'squiggle' character and the underline. It looks similar to a signature from the 2001+ era, though one would have thought it was period-signed (1996) and then more consistent with the longer mid 1990s signature which was very different.

Morry, you are an expert indeed. Thankfully I didn't pay too much for this so the fact that it had a 'signature' was more like a bonus.

Here are my two cents, for anyone who may care.
If you have a shirt with MS's autograph on it, IMO it is worthless no matter if real or not, unless you obtained the autograph. I mean, isn't it the whole purpose of getting some one's signature, so you can say" I met the person and they signed my shirt for me"?
I attended every USGP 2000-20007. Save for this season, every year before that I managed one way or another to meet MS. On each of those occasions (most of them pure luck) I got an autograph from him. I have a Ferrari hat from each year signed by him (except 2005) and when I look at them, the signatures don't always look identical. I don't give a **** what anyone has to tell me about their authenticity, because I got them myself from the man himself. To me just the memory of it is worth ten times more than what a "certified original" may sell for.
Either way there are many originals out there, I am sure, that don't look so original and many fakes that are "perfect". Both of them to me are worthless unless the person signed the item FOR ME and personally gave it to me.

    Found this about MS signatures...

    http://www.autographcollector.com/2007April/michaelschumacher.html

I have many signed MS items from people who I know/trust that obtained them personally.

I also have a few that I can't 100% prove that are real but I don't care. I will never sell them anyway and are for my personal pleasure.

    Enjoy your shirt!

No one can ever be 100% sure if they were not there - I personally cannot sign my own name with any real consistency. However, I am quite sure about this one above not being right.

Regarding wetpet's comment, I am not sure what jacket he is referring to, but he has bought from me so I know he believes in my products and opinions.

it amazes me anyone would take the time to forge any recent f1 signature. they just aren't worth much. by the way, i have many signed f1 things and i still like them even though i didn't collect them.

eBay is loitered with fake signatures...I would guesstimate 90% of all of the 'authentic signed' items listed there pertaining to motorsports are bogus. Why do people forge these signatures?Because to many, a $2 photo and a $1 pen can achieve $50-$250 rather effortlessly, which is good money to most. Sad but true.

    Interesting to say the least...

I've got 4-5 items that he signed for me during my stint in the Ferrari Challenge in 2000-2001. All signatures done in front of me and usually with me taking pictures too...Not that it matters as they are items I will never be selling. But I will go back and take a look at the signtures and see what pattern they follow.

That story reconciles to my experience...I have two signed hats from Jack Habits but the only time I was in Ferrari Paddock,Todt and Rubens gladly signed while MS remianed 'behind the glass wall".

    Indy F1 2000......

You still have his Final Hat, signed, Morry?????

most of the signed ms pics i see on ebay sell between $5-$15. in the rare case they even sell. the hats rarely for more than $10-15 above the cost of the hat. Doesn't seem like a very lucrative adventure to me. have a look:
