Bad luck comes in batches. Be cool and it will change for the better.

2006 at my house is the year of things breaking. Simultaneously. 2 of my 3 cars have already been in the shop, the other needs to go. Water leak at the house left me without water for 3 days. Home Insurance FUBAR has left me without coverage at one house. Health Insurance FUBAR resulted in a bill I don't owe being sent to collections.

The good news is I'm heading to the airport in 2 hours to go to Detroit and the auto show.

Sorry to hear about this. I live in Silverlake and drive the 2 to Eagle Rock and Pasadena all the time and I cannot even imagine trying to push a car on the up hill sections.

As far as the photo shoot is concerned... if Maxim was footing the bill for the shoot I would think they owe you for the expenses. You just can't cancel within 2hrs and not expect to incur some cost. That would be like renting out a conference room at a hotel and canceling two hours before the "meeting." The hotel would bill you for it, or at least ask for a percentage of it.

Mary sounds like a nut job and you'll be better off without her. This is LA, throw a rock and you'll find another attractive model to replace her in your shoots. Her loss not yours. Never mix business with pleasure. Granted in your line of business the lines can blur quite a bit but take a page from REMIX and only work when you're at work.

Things can only get better from here. At least it seems you've gotten your bad karma for the year out of the way and you've been alerted to some medical conditions that need to be taken care of. It could have been a lot worse. If you've got time on your hands I'd say it's time to stop hanging out at home and time to start using that time to get out and say hike Runyon Canyon or around Silverlake reservoir. The exercise will help with all this stress.

    I feel for you man.

The main sewer line in front of my parents house plugged solid.
The low spot in the system became the shower and toilet in their Master bath.
It goes without saying they had a shi++y day.

They lived in a residence hotel for close to 6 months while the county refurbished thier home.

TWO speeding tickets, one to, and one from Vegas. Stuck in 6 hours of traffic from LV to Newport Beach. In a rush because a model if flying into John Wayne from Texas to be in my shoot for Maxim the next morning and nobody is here to pick her up, so I have to drive back.

AND TO TOP IT OFF, Mary Ann, my avatar, subject of the Mary Ann Appreciation thread (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83674) is stuck in LA traffic on the 5 when I call her to let her know it is off. Her position in the shoot was to pose as my girlfriend, well after dinner, lunch, brunch at Las Srisas and some other things, we hit it off well and one would think that we are on good terms. She is not pleased, more on that in a moment.

This is why I have a pilot's license. No freeways or BS to deal with. Just get in the plane and go.

Yep, being at home all day sucks. Your mind just rots away and your social skills go down the toilet. I did that for eight years. And *this* is why I found something to do during the week now. Much happier.

I am sure Buddy Holly had a very similar argument to Richie Valenz and the Big Bopper "hey guys it will be faster and no traffic, can you imagine the traffic down there, we are much better off at 20k feet..."

I dunno that's just what a drunk guy told me the other day while I was at a redlight.
I have a friend that moved out to LA not too long ago from the East coast. Might want to check her out: http://www.onemodelplace.com/model_list.cfm/ID/138675.
I posted a few pics in the Bikini thread a while back of her but I didn't have them saved to my computer since I don't have a reason to keep them.
She was at the SEMA event and I think she was at the LA Auto Show too this past week. At least looking at a few pics of her will brighten up your day. Give me a day or so and I will get her website from her. I haven't talked to her in a while though. Kinda been busy lately on buying some land near Charlotte.

Jan5- My credit card on the rental card is rejected. Apparently the card company froze the card for no good reason (F^CK YOU CAPITAL ONE!) Car is reported stolen to Burbank Police if I don't drive up to sign off at Enterprise.

I have my own business selling real estate. I've slowly been working on getting more involved with commercial properties, both as an owner and listing/buyers agent. I've been trying to get an appointment with a major player in Green Bay and after a year, he finally agrees to meet me for lunch. I'm building a new office and earlier that day bought furniture, carpet, paint, etc. bottom line is I spent around $5,000 that morning. I meet this person for lunch, we get to the counter, and I decide to put it on my business debit card which comes right out of my business checking. Just had a great lunch, great meeting....the counter person runs my cards and yells...declined...your cards declined. I'm like...no way, I watch my money, and I know for a fact the account is fine..Run it again....sir...declined, it's declined again! Now my potential client is now offering to pay since I don't have the funds. I'm $5.00 short on cash, she won't take a check. I end up calling from my cell phone the # on the back of the card for help. Since I spent $5,000 that morning, and my average spending is much lower than that, they put my card on hold until I called in to verify that I did indeed spend that money earlier in the day. They re-activated the card and she ran it through. By now I have a line of people waiting behind me and I felt like I was being watched. I can still here this ladies voice yelling declined (wonder if I can sue for emotional damage?). Why couldn't she pull me aside nicely and say...sir..Your cards declined, you may want to find out what’s going on instead of declaring it public knowledge. When we left, I felt 2 inches tall, my client turns to me and laughs and says..You know Rick, I thought that kind of **** only happened to me and proceeded to tell me similar business stories. That was a week ago, this morning he called and listed 3 commercial properties with me!

    AND EVEN WORSE
at 11pm NY time on Jan 17th, my grandmother slipped into a coma
at 7am NY time today, January 18th, she passed away.

my grandmother raised me when my family moved to CA, and every summer of my life was spent with her, volunteering with the Retarded/downs/CP kids in Huntington at the Suffolk Develpmental Center.

The loss is greater than anything else preceeding it this year, and please forgive me for not being around for the next few weeks. Services are being planned.

I would like to thank Fchat for all the support I have gotten over the last few weeks of what seemed like the worst it could get.

to show that I still have my sense of humor here is the yearly damage thus far in losses:

    2 speeding tickets
    car
    maxim article about me
    girlfriend
    main gig
flooded home (with major losses in computers, negatives, paperwork)
    my world :(

Tim - my sincere condolences. Especially given how close it seems you were.

Hang in there. The pain will subside. The successes will come. I have no doubt. A cliche indeed, but I find it truly is darkest before the dawn.

    Best.

almost two years later, i am still dealing with this. my family can't agree on dispensing the money from the sale of the house wich has been blocked by on aunt for the last 10 months. the house sold last week, now she is going to sue the trust (mainly me) because she does not believe the amount alloted for my retarded uncle is fair, she says it is too much the rest of us say it is totally fair. i am sure once this black cloud clears, i can have a happy life again, but it has tainted everything for the last two years. today i had some other setbacks too, but unrelated to this main thread.

thanks kev355 for reminding me of this on sunday as i stood by the ultima. had it noit been for all this, that car would have been mine a year ago...
