The car is currently gutted and down to bare metal awaiting rewelds and stitching to stiffen the body.

i am envious. i saw the ex-ronnie peterson 3.5 csl run at the coronado vintage races a few weeks back. it was an incredible machine...i applaud you for building and trememdous car. keep it authentic and don't skimp...it will be nothing short of an e-ticket ride!!!!!

I am planning on using a mid-eighties 3.5l motroic motor from a 5 series. they are cheap and proven to spin 500+ horsepower. I lean more towards a supercharger than a turbo, but I have time to make that choice. even single cam 3.2l motors were suggested, but I firmly believe to make it move in a competitive state, 400 hp may be lower than it needs. 700 is way too much, but it would break 200mph easily with that.

Wow - I'm looking forward to seeing this thread develop!

I remember seeing a car like this that had a straight 6 from an M3 in it - I would post a link, but I can't find it, although that car was for road, not race use.

Best of luck with the project, and please, please post lots of progress pics!

There are dozens of resources, a good few even closer to me, www.coupeking.com is one that is helping me on the project. I went there today to look at roll cage proposals with the structural guy.

hahaha you b@st@rd! well I am having the car sent out for a cage to a friend of a friend of the shop owner at Coupe King. I'll make a visit there next week to layout the cage. Being single allows me to have more cash through the holidays to work on it. It is a three-month cage job because of backlogs at the shop. Best estimate is February mid-month for delivery of the roller...

Pix to be taken and posted weekly if my project manager from TNO in Glendale can get out there to oversee this.

This is contingent on me not serving time for killing Jjay911 after another road trip this Saturday...

If anyone needs a good driver Tim loves roadtrips and is a heck of a driver. I have seen him drive a truck after 32hours of no sleep...

Oh, I knew that, I was just saying that it looked like crap, all cracked. There is no way, you would be rolling around in that interior in that condition.

Cool project! This beautiful and very original 3.0 has been willed to me upon its owner's demise. True story.

I hope to not own it very soon, but am nonetheless pleased to be the beneficiary... and I get to drive it whenever I like.

Had it at the Cannon Beach (Oregon) NWRFCA event this year in fact.

Keep us posted on your progress!
