Wow. I had a funny feeling when I decided to play with this for no real reason.

After getting a ton of calls to my cell phone from people or computers dialing my GC number I decided to cancel my account - especially since I wasn't actually using this "service" for anything.

Little did I know what a pain it would be to cancel. I figured just log on and click on "cancel account" - but no, there is no such ability. After spending a while trying to figure out how to cancel, I found it buried that you have to send an email to support and request deletion. Fine - email sent and response recieved that account was deleted.

    That was 3 weeks ago.

A couple of weeks after that I start getting cell phone calls in the middle of the night again - from GC. I check - and no, my account is not deleted. I remove my numbers from GC and send another email to support asking for deletion. No response.

I am awaken this morning by my cell phone ringing - another call from GC.

I knew I should have never given out my number.

That's very weird. I didn't give my GC number out to anyone and I'm not getting any more calls than I usually do. I gave myself a number for beverly hills for ****s n giggles (I'm in canada, no local numbers to me) and the only calls that came through GC were my own testing calls.

Nick, theres a drive tomorrow you should join. check the mi section for details.

I just realized I dont use this anymore, My friends were getting confused when I told them my new number and all of my txt messages came from my old number.
Plus I get enough calls a day from customers and I didnt want all my calls directed to my work phone. How long is this going to be in beta testing?

Yeah, I have an office phone, a cel phone and a home phone. Not sure about routing them as I've done a pretty good job of keeping it all straight so far. No telemarketers on my end.

Could see this as a great way for someone to avoid bill collectors, though. Just throw them in the "spam" category or give them the number no longer in service message. I like the whole idea of turning unwanted calls into spam via user intervention or the type of fingerprinting GC uses.

I would have to give my friends my new number for this to work correctly. Still mulling this over...
