I've searched and found bits and pieces, but has anyone compiled a list of all the fuel and coolant hoses with associated dimensions and part numbers for the 328? It sure would be nice to have the right hoses on hand so when I pull the old ones off, I can replace them immediately. My task for the winter is to replace all the coolant system hoses. Then next summer when I do the 60k mile service, I'll replace all the fuel system hoses.

    Anybody have this list?

I am in the process of doing this for one of our customers. As soon as I get it done I'll send it to you. The tedious part is the repeated part number supercessions and trying to find every single item. I don't have all the measurements though, but have quite a few.

someone actually compiled this for the 308.... which is virtually the same. If I can find what I remember seeing I'll post it.

I'd love to have this list as well. I plan on preventatively placing everything in the near future. Mine's an '89 so not as old as most but I'm a believer in preventative maintenance on these and other older cars. Thanks.

Yep. Found that too. Saved it to a word file. My more immediate need is to replace the cooling system lines near the heaters up front. When I try and purge the air with heaters on I get a leak at the front of the car from under the spare tire.

Mine's an '89 as well and I'm having this issue. So it's by no means too early to just replace everything. 18 years is a long time for hoses (or rubber period).

No kidding, the coolant hose shattered at the engine end in mine this summer. I'd love to see the list.

I think the majority of the lists of hoses for the 308 are for carbed cars.

The majority, if not all of the coolant carying hoses MAY be the same, but caution is needed when specing the fuel hoses. Carbed cars see maybe 5-7 pounds of pressure, max, some lines in the fuel injection system on the 328/308i may see considerably higher values.

for safety, i used 300 psi fuel injection rated rubber napa hose for all of my carbed car's fuel carying hoses.

    hth,
    chris

ps, from personal experience, i can tell you that some of the old vapor recovery hoses can leak prodigous quantities of gasoline. I was lucky, i got to it before there was a fire.

REPLACE EVERY fuel or vapor/smog hose - you will sleep better.

This would be a great must have maybe in complete kit form for all us 328 owners. It must be a big job but once done I bet orders would come from everywhere.Maybe a recommendation of best time to do IE timing belt time or other.Tone

I found the list! Now I have to find a way to post it. It's actually in two parts; a PDF document (too big to just post) with some engine diagram scans and some handwritten measurements and an excel document that spells out what hoses correlate to what part of the diagrams. If someone has the time to clean it up I can e-mail it to them and possibly get it made a sticky link in this section. PM me if someone wants to help with that.

Replaced all the hoses on my car last year. Just removed all the hoses and measured them before buying new ones. Did not worry about offical part numbers. When measuring the inside diameters I went with the closest english sizes and did not worry about finding the exact metric ones.

    Total lengths:

    3/16" x 3' cotton cloth jacketed
    1/4" x 3' cotton cloth jacketed
    5/16" x12' cotton cloth jacketed
    5/8" x 3' cotton cloth jacketed
    1-3/8" x1' rubber coated
    2-1/4" x 1' rubber coated
    Individual lenghts:
    5/8" x 14"
    1-3/8" x 8" (2 4" lengths)
    2-1/4" x 4"
    5/8" x 12"
    1/4" x 28"
    5/8" x 5"
    5/16" x 55"
    5/16" x 15" (3 5" lenghts)
    5/16" x 11"
    5/8" x 5"
    5/16" x 24"
    5/16" x 13"
    5/16" x 5"
    3/16" x 31"
Also replaced all clamps with new s/s ones. Total cost of parts about $100.00. Piece of mind: priceless.

Excellent posts by many on this thread.

I am in the final throws of purchasing a 308 GTS QV and have found this information invaluable as the first job i intend doing is the fuel lines and filler.

Well after numerous attempts to downsize " Barcheta's " files that include diagrams that match my aforementioned attached word documents ( see above ) I am at a loss. I can email the diagrams that match Jim's parts list to anyone who wants them with Barcheta, Jim's, approval. Sorry I was unable to post his diagrams as they will be most helpful to those who are going to take on fuel line replacement.
