I was flipping through the pages of a Hemmings this morning and saw a glass US 308 for sale for $37k. It supposedly has 31k miles, red ext, tan interior, well maint, etc. I am kicking myself for not remembering to pick up the book prior to leaving the bookstore (was at the store for other things) there was a website listed. Does anyone know anything more about this car? I thought it said it was in CT.

I can just hear the pitter-patter of several FChatters feet running to the grocery store to pick up a Hemmings trader/magazine...... :)

Surely, if it is a true glass car, it will be sold rather quickly unless its a complete basket case.

Mini on the cover? November issue in front of me as I search for a QV/328... a glass car is advertised but it's the same one from Ct. that's been advertised for a while. $49,000. But maybe you got a Dec. edition Hemmings......?

Now I am really kicking myself for not picking up that issue. I kid you not, it said glass car. The add even described how many glass cars were made so to emphasize its' rarity in the 308 series. Someone must have a copy.

if this car is the real deal and its listed for 37K US dollars...i would bet, its gone by now....unless it was a wreck...i seen a few wrecks asking that price in the past....you would be lucky to drive to the corner store and get milk in them...they needed to be stripped and restored.

Ferrari: 1976 308 GTB, rare fiberglass bodied car with only 30,550 original miles, red body over tan interior, VIN 19543, clean and nice original car in excellent mechanical condition, consistently maintained with lengthy records, Ferrari built only 712 fiberglass bodied GTBs and they benefit from improved performance due to 300 lb lighter weight than their steel bodied brethren, $37,500. 203-377-6745, CT; www.automotiverestorations.com ; [email protected]

Of course when you follow the link to the webpage, they have the car listed for $49,000. Maybe Hemming is a misprint?

im calling in the morning, thanks....my only concern is its listed at a restore place....unless you bring someone with you that really knows what to look for, there is alot that can be hidden....would hate to find out this thing is ducted taped, and crazy glued together...or all twisted and dry rot underneath....but i will investigate...too bad its not a Eruo dry with single exhaust....thats what i have to have.

i would bet, its a tear, and the dash needs replacing....even that shifter knob needs to go...im sure thats just the tip of the iceberg...but if its a true clean car with title, this car is a deal...............if it runs.

Not a bad deal at all. But of course the market has softened a bit on high end cars due to challenging economy. We have not seen the worst of it yet. FYI...the same dealer has a very nice 66 GTO and a 66 VW Bus!

just looks the best.....the orignal design of the car when first displayed, and of those were dry sump. Though the wet sump cars are just as perfect ;)

Yes true, I love the dry sump as well. But I hate the single exhaust. My car is a UK car and the first thing I did was change the exhaust. With the single pipe all you hear is the whistle of the engine trying to push all that air out.

And being in Oz we are lucky as we drive on the right side of the car. When you wind the window down you can hear the 4 carbis sucking the air in. OOOHhh what a sound. With my new exhaust no more whistle.
