Yes, He did it because he is pure of heart, (and probably has a pernicious lust for THE SOUND and instant throttle response).

Or maybe someone just swapped the carb set up for a pizza or 2.

Are those manifolds stock or ported?? They look mighty smooth down in there?

Did you get the velocity stacks too?

Will the smog gear be taken off, so it can be carefully restored and put into a box under the bench?

No doubt, Enzo is smiling down on this one :)

Are you going to stay with the digiplex ignition or go to something better???

    impared minds want to know,

    chris

    Chris my "Big Wheels Brother"

Deep deep down, the kid in me, always love carbs.:) My last sports car a 72 Corvette 383 with Double pumper. OH SO SWEET!

The carb setup cost more than a few pizzas, subs and fries.:p

I would like to get velocity stacks.

On ignition i would like to get the Electromotive setup. Will have to touch base with our local Carb Guru aka BIRDMAN!

Now back to our regular scheduled program....in progress..........

    Hi gang,

Well, i got the Plenum off with no problem, and i didn't drop any washers either.:)

But now the fun part. How do i remove the runners? I might have a few studs seized so i have been soaking them with PB Blaster.

What should i use? Rubber hammer and a piece of wood?

lightly tapping them with a hammer/wood or mallet should break the bond with the head and allow you to pull them off.

He's got a hydraulic height control on that workbench, it can lift from about 9" high to about 4' or more high. Guess he just likes to bend over.

    Chris,
Don't get the Electromotive XDI setup, it's intended for a track/race application & it only has a single 'map' that only has 4 points defined by the 4 switches. IMHO, it's actually a step backwards from your current Digiplex system, other than the direct fire coil packs. Again, there are individual cylinder coil-packs that make for a very clean installation.

There are much better systems out there for less or equivalent money.

I explained a solution to use a Haltech ECU for controlling your dizzy's . . . and later it will control your EFI should you go that route :) See my dyno numbers? 210hp/180 ft-lb at rear wheels with stock cams and high compression :) We don't need no stinkin' carb's ;)

    Hey Chris,

I remember when you didn't tinker too much with the motor...and now look at you.

You my friend are an inspiration and are going to have a wonderful drving machine when you are done. I guess we'll have to plan that national 308 Gathering when you are done.

    Keep up the great work.

I found some new stuff at PRI last year call "Evopo Rust" ! Evo friendly, user friendly and works like chicken bones in Clorine tank. Enough said!

Also they make an aluminum cleaner that turns that dull corroded bit into show, same handle only it works best at 160 f.

PPI is annual trade show for racing industry that likes to work smarter than harder. Performance Racing Industry show Orlando, fl.

    Cheers Robert

PS can you not take the whole engine /xbox out as a unit from below? like Mondial ??

Soak them in Tomato sauce or Olive oil and then tap with a rubber hammer.

50/50 balsamic vinegar & garlic infused extra virgin olive oil...WAY better than PB Blaster !!! ;-)

Its gonna take something harder than a rubber mallet to "shock" that gasket bond apart. Maybe plastic face mallet or a dead blow and a block of hardwood. Dont' go to the "maybe if I just drive a putty knife between......" place !! Might want to pull the injector nozzles out before you bust the intakes loose, they are about 3" long and extend into the intake ports.

Toss in a few strands of angel hair pasta and when you are done you get yourself dinner. Would you like some cracked pepper with that?

I am going to pull my plenum to repaint. Are there gaskets between the plenum and runners I need to order before re-install?

Anywhere metal is adhered to other metal there should be some type of gasket...

Yup, Thought you'd already pulled the injectors, yank them before you go beating on it. A couple of gentle taps with that 2 lb sledge we used to separate the tranny from the block on a piece of 2x4 should break those stuck gaskets loose. If not, then more olive oil & balsamic...

BTW, had to pull the motor mount studs to get that stuck spacer off of the tranny. Glad you'd been soaking them w/PB blaster (Or did you use oil & balsamic there too? ;)

The tranny is mounted on the stand's mounting plate, all ready for a couple of strong backs to pick it up & slide it into the stand.
