Hi guys... what are the signs of my clutch T/O bearing wearing out ? I have a about half an inch free play on my clutch pedal and shop said it might be the T/O bearing. My clutch still doesn't slip... Should I be concerned about that pedal play ? Thoughts ?

I find it strange to relate clutch pedal free play with the Throw-out bearing... In any case if the Throw-out bearing is going you should notice some dirty looking brake fluid drops/puddles directly under the Clutch housing. You may have to look for it within a few minutes after you have driven the car.

Have you checked the fluid level?

Hmm... I don't see any wet stuff on my clutch housing. The whole bottom of the car is dry and clean...

Though if it is low, it must be going somewhere.... is it leaving a drip stain under the clutch cover?

    1. A loud bearing noise either when you apply or release the clutch (but typically not both times/directions).

    2. Leaking clutch fluid.

    3. Problems shifting, or the car staying in gear even with clutch pedal depressed.

Hey no reason for the argh... :) I'm glad to hear that all is clean and dry under the car, just enjoy driving it and chalk it up to being a careful, observant owner.

    1.] OK - No noise.
    2.] OK - No leak
3.] Yes, problems shifting.. shifting is not smooth except from 4-5-6 especially when driving slow on the streets.. On the fwy, they are all hella smooth... :)

Normally, a little clutch pedal free play is favoured. :):)

Shifting is NOT smooth when driving slowly, but they are smooth on the freeway?
Very strange mate. Are you sure its just not the operator. ;);)

Loud noise was the tip off for me that T/O bearing was toast. It was the worst sound I have ever heard a car make...
