Philippe's is one of my favorites. I've been gong there since I was a kid. Here are two I'd add to the list:

    Musso & Frank Grill
    6667 Hollywood Blvd
    Los Angeles, CA 90028-6292
    Phone: (323) 467-7788

Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles
    5006 W Pico Blvd
    Los Angeles, CA 90019-4126
    Phone: (323) 934-4405

Musso & Frank is old Hollywood and a favorite among movie stars going way back. Roscoe's has been around since the 70s and offers the unusual combination of chicken & waffles that go surprisingly well together. For a gourmet evening, I like:

    Bon appétit !

Standard "To go" fare before a Dodger game! Everyone around my seats gets jealous eating their cold, over-rated Dodger dogs! :)

Palermo's white pizza was fantastic, next door is fred62 a late-night kind of place with a cool crowd. For a magnificent italian deli, marios in glendale wins hands down for an ex new yorker like me. even maria's (many locations, one of which at VCR) is good too.

best pizza is mulberry street on south beverly in beverly hills.

in general the best NY-style food out of NY is www.nypdcorona.com, i'll probablly stab anyone that says otherwise, all ex-NYPD officers run this joint.

I go to Vermont on Vermont usually for first dates, works well :) Then for view there is Yamashiro!!!

best bbq in cali has to be any of the johnny reb's. the bbq pork omlette is just incredible.

chapter 8 in agoura hills is an fchatter favorite, the filet is one of my favorites, to back this up ask any of the girls i brought there, emily, jennifer, morgan, kelley, samantha... and i always run in to an fchatter while i am there lol

overall here in pasadena there are nearly 100 restaurants and bakeries for anything you can imagine, i love living here for that alone, i am after all a gormand!

i was never a fan of mastros ruth's chris or houstons, the dining experience was about where you are and not really that good. a lot of people like the beverly hills locations because of the very young and well kept escort/hookers that hang out at the bar waiting for a 'date' but when you actually try the food, you are not so interested. if you do go, a word of caution, check for id, you could go to jail for i usually go there to impress someone that is usually hotter than any of the girls there and people think i am a pimp. :(

the people i always trust for reataurant opinions: doctorb, modenafan, black355, pchom, noahlh, jptyke, chaserolls (can't stress that enough!), s4dustin, redd430

I was working in Montecito Friday, so I had lunch at La Super-Rica. I got there at 11AM to beat the rush. At around 11:20, the line was already about 20 people!

I have been to Chapter 8 a couple times and it was really good the first time and fair the second time but I haven't been back there since Mastro's opened it Thousand Oaks. Personally I like Mastro's, in fact I went there this past Saturday and loved it. But the Mastro's in TO has zero bar scene compared to Chpater 8 or Mastro's BH. We were at Mastro's until about 12:00 and almost every table was empty by the time we left and only a few people at the bar, but if you were in Beverly Hills, it was probably off the hook, as well as Chapter 8. I do know that since Mastro's in TO opened, when you go on opentable to look at what's available, they use to never have reservations available on a Friday or Saturday night and now every timeslot is available..... I wouldn't mind going back there to try it again...

and since he's going to be right there in BH, he may as well go there instead of driving all the way to Agoura

I bike past that place every day. I have to cover my nose as I'm going by.
