Looks wonderful Jon, not picking but asking. I thought the dino cam covers had a gold tint to them originally and secondly, did you paint the aluminum heads and other items like the bellhousing?

I powder coated the cam covers. Bell housing was glass bead blasted.

Every time I look at this thread, I say to myself....."I'd give a nut to be able to do a project like this to this depth!"
Excellent. Many thanks for sharing, Jon!

    Jon,
Euro mounting of the oil/water heat exchanger looks good. Don't forget to plug the two big holes in the forward head where the AC compressor went. Were you able to use any of the US oil and water lines or did you just get new everything?

I'm still working on the bracket for the heat exchanger. Everything new as far as the hoses and oil lines, but I think they would work for either US or Euro.

I know this is a bit away, you don't even have the wheels on yet but, Will you have to take it somewhere to get the track and allingment correct or will you do it the old fashioned way with measurments and the like?

I have been fascinated watching you restore this car, I have always loved Dino's, but never owned or worked on one. It appears to me that these cars are rather complex in the way that they are put together, with a separate frame, the fiberglass sections, metal body parts combined with lots of hand assembled parts. With these cars being the lower end of Ferrari's offering during that time, do you think they made any money on these cars? Seems rather labor intensive.

Would you consider this a more difficult car to restore than say a Miura? Just curious.

I have two addictions these days following the restoration of this car and watching the guys from Discovery HD tank overhaul.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hello Jon,
I just discovered this amazing project that you are undertaking.
Congratulations are in order, as normally, this is the bread and butter of professionals
that earn their living in the restoration industry and not the job of amateurs as us.
Your work will be invaluable to many, and to me in particular, as I am starting a full restoration in a similar fashion.
I would appreciate members input on how to copy this wonderful file onto another media
(i.e. copy/paste or transfer to DVDs) as my pc talents do not have that reach.
Thank you again Jon, and kudos!

Yes Jon is doing a particularly excellent job of this restoration, but i have to say that many proffessional shops in my opinion do not go to these lenghts as it can become "non cost effective" ie the resto costs more than the car is worth. I tend to think that many folk (Jon included) do a better job at home particularly when it happens to be a car that you are passionate about and are not in it purely for financial gain. And most of us here (although its heart warming whilst values are strong and rising) are purely passionate for the vehicle and not its worth.
Sorry in advance if this upsets any pro's... purely unintended

Back at it today. I about finished the front suspension. although everything is loose, to be torqued later at ride height. Started on the rear suspension, but have to assemble the hubs before I can get any further. Tomorrow I'm going to start assembling everything I need for the engine test stand as firing it up is getting close. How can I put sound on for you guys to hear?

As for posting the sound, I noticed that video attachments are allowed. Maybe you can make a small vid file?

If not, you can send it to me and I'll post a link to my website with it.

And the CDs are gonna be amazing. Perhaps they could all get burned onto 1 DVD? Happy to handle that for you too.
