    Gary,
Glad the distributor is all OK now. Makes a world of difference. Now go buy an air flow meter similar to the one I have and set the carbs. JC Whitney has one, among others. I wrote a Saga about this a while ago:

Once spark and mixture are ALL right, at all revs, at each cylinder, the car will be a delight at every speed.

Thanks John, I have to get me one of the air flow meters, sounds like an improvement over the Uni-Syn which I am using right now.
Because I have a MSD 6AL I remembered seeing in the literature that they recommended disconnecting one set of the points with no more accompaning reasons or instructions.
This has always bothered me as I had left both points intact and functioning as a friend had said " I don't see any reason to remove one set", and for me, my big question was which set do you remove anyway! That question was answered by Lyle Tanner of Ferrari Exchange who said remove set no.2 clearly stamped at the terminal on the outside of the distributor, " You don't need them anyway ".
I had further clarification with another friend who works at a Napa store and is a auto buff and knows lots more than I do about ignitions. I posed the question, Why the duel points anyway? is it a way to prevent point float? He said no! Its primarily to increase the dwell and now that you have the MSD the electronics takes care of that and you no longer need the duels. That was enough for me and out they went, and now I am headlong into tuning this old girl and I am seeing some results, especially after mech. advance fixes and a better understanding of the little things that make a big difference in carb adjustments.

Jeese, so embarrassed! I led everyone and myself on quite the ride, but for the better as I now have a finally tuned carburator and ingnition system. now I discover after all the tuning effort that my fuel pump has been slowly going away to the point that now there isn't even enough fuel to run the accellerator pumps. After this fix and all the others it should be tits, I hope. Thanks for all the suggestions.
