Leakdown on a 355 I am looking at:

    1) 13%
    2) 11%
    3) 16%
    4) 14%
    5) 26%
    6) 6%
    7) 6%
    8) 8%

I'm having a PPI done today as well. I'll post the #s. I hope they are better looking. One tech told me if the #s don't look good, put fuel additive in the car and give it an "italian tune-up" and re-test (blow some carbon out?).

I'll pass I think. This was actually a leak down test down in July on the car just after the Major was done. I was going to do a PPI but assume it didnt fix itself...

You have to wonder if the entity selling the car knew of the leakdown problem and was hoping the buyer will assume that all is fine if a major was just performed. New belts etc are a good selling point. They could have easily done the valves at the time but decided to save the money in the processs. I would be careful since they may be hiding something else?

typical..As much as I hate to say it. I have been seeing these numbers with increasing regularity. The 355 is a great car, but you do need to find the needle in the hay stack it seems.

For normal used car, they are not that bad. All would fall in the "acceptable" range.

However, if you are paying that kind of money for a Ferrari, then I would run, at least until you find another one...

What? For a normal used car with a bad motor maybe, but anything over 10% is worn and the one cylinder with 26% is a problem. A good motor will have less than 5% leakage on all cylinders.

I don't think the results look good at all, in fact I'd say they are pretty much scrap yard material as far as liners and pistons go.

There is one good thing to note about the situation:

I did save a ton on car insurance by switching to Geico:)

    How's that Daniel?

Funny, but not in a "ha ha" kind of way. Then again, with the last 30 days I have endured, not much trips my trigger anymore. :(

By the way, got a box for me to ship tomorrow?
