mechanic at our ranch worked on the engine while it was at victoria HS, also said he donated 3 crate ferrari V12 engines

Those pix posted above are not from 1986 but could be early 70s. Thus, are pix on trailer as it entered the field???

 

With flat tires on the trailer?

None of the GTO's linked so far have the three slots on the fender, only two. But I really don't know what I'm talking about. It looks closer to this one.

Maybe they changed to 2 during the resto, did they originally have 2 or 3?

I'm relatively new here, but shouldn't this thread be in the Vintage forum? It seems it is "model specific", which is opposite of this forum's title. Thanks.

our family has been is south texas for years, we have family members and friends that know the car from it's victoria high scholl days.

but from all questions, most remember it as a "foreign" car and not much more.

sure, today, we look back in awe, but for those that had it as a "body", at the time, it had no major awe.

IIRC that one was used as a school driver car in Texas
... Go figure ...some guys actually learned how to drive in a GTO !!!

Now I feel sorry for whoever donated that car to a High School.

They were just old racing cars, no one wanted them, they were un competitive and not suited to street use

 

Story has it that Enzo Ferrari offered David Piper 4 250GTO's for £12k in the late '60's, along with enough spares to build 2 more.....nothing like yesterday's unwanted racers!
