You could simply ask the dealer. They won't bite your head off for that

I don't know how much profit they look to make, but it's probably at least $200,000

we need to know the options and esp if its F1..the dealer needs to make at least 15-20k dollars on the trade...depending on the options, an 06 coupe could go for 205-215k dollars, actually selling price..., so i would say 185-200k dollars unless the car is super heavily optioned......

 

Since I also own a 2006 F430, I'd say "one billion dollars" (in my best Dr. Evil voice).

I really don't know for sure, but I'll venture a guess.

I suspect the dealer probably needs to make $25k - $30k on the transaction, so I suspect, for a 2006 F1 Coupe in like-new condition, the trade-in value would be around $180k - $185k. My hunch is the dealer would ask $215k to $225k for the car but settle for something like a $205k - $210k for the finalized sale transaction.

Please post your actual trade-in offer if you find out I'm way off on this guess.

I was just at LFSC... seems to be a lot of "sold out" F430's up for sale. They had at least 8 for sale.
Plus, the cold hard freeze is setting in around many parts of the country... not exactly prime Ferrari sellin' time.

 

Having just done this, assuming daytonas, shields, carbon, sound system and perfect condition, $215M max. That is LA market.

You will probably do better consigning the car and and making a deal on the new one.

 

$215K wholesale value?! I don't think so. I'd imagine a well optioned 430 (steel brakes) will fetch no more than $180 from a dealer as a trade

 

I think the value will be relative to original MSRP. I think the 430 market is, like everything else, softening up. I think retail in most parts of the USA is max 5-10% over MSRP. I think trade is max 5-10% under MSRP, assuming the dealer is not hiking the price of the car being bought. I know that dealers NEVER do that.

Your best bet, I agree, is to consign the car or have a broker sell it for you. There are plenty of people now looking to purchase a 430 that you could get more than if you were to trade it in.

Isn't it better to sell the car back to the dealership to establish a relationship with them? Is it true that if you don't sell the car back to them or try to flip it for a higher price that they will blacklist you and not sell you a car again?

 

Establish a relationship? A relationship with a store? That's just a marketing tool. And it's not called "flipping" when you own it for nearly two years, a lot of people trade their cars in between the 2nd and 3rd year.

 

Because trade-in is whole sale value whereas Autotrader, Dupont and Ebay are owners seeking retail value for their cars...

The reality is you are going to lose some money on the car dealing with your 'friendly' dealor. But if you try and sell it on your own, then the hit will be smaller. Of course that way you will not be able to maintain that 'friendly' relationship with your favorite sales person and his employer; i.e. they willl not be able to make $20-$30K off you in each transaction.

 

+1....224 Gallardo's for sale right now on Dupontregistry.com. They are probably depreciating more than any other exotic right now.

From those that I've talked to, this seems to be the best course of action if you want to be on the list for future Ferraris...


It might not 'pay' per se, but it will pay when you want that last F430 spider allocation I guess.


Then again, the OP already got screwed by paying $245,000.

 

Is 245,000 including taxes and tags...because thats very high for an 06 F1 coupe...you must have every option with full carbon everywhere and cc brakes, racing seats etc....for an $210k msrp car, i would say wholesale would be 185k-190k......

Here's the problem I have... by your posts you've been talking Lambo, Bentley, Ferrari and throwing around the cost of each, trade in #'$/flipping....you seem more like a car raper than a car lover.

Sorry, I get tired of the attitude when guys buy (multiple) $200K+ cars and then complian about a loss of a lousy $30K.
