    i heard 13 F40 left the factory black as a tribute to the death of enzo - anybody to confirm that?

    100% false, all were painted red by the factory. All the non-red ones you see are repainted.

    It was actually not done by the Ferrari factory, but by Pininfarina ;)

    Was it counted with the rest of the stock F40's, or does Ferrari deny its existence?

    I assume they don't deny them. It was an official Pininfarina job based on standard F40's.

    edit: they have normal chassis numbers
