That's a bit much hatred for the cop. I just got a ticket for doing 14 over in a speed trap however, I know for a fact that I was only doing 68 in a 65, not 79. There was a car passing me, same color, similar body style that was very likely the one they picked up on radar. However, the cop wrote the ticket in such a generic way (as they are trained to do) that they could have pulled over and convicted anybody with it. I took the deal for a "defective speedometer" even though it went against everything I believe only because I was told by several attorneys in the area that no one ever wins a speeding trial and if I would have been found guilty, the 14 over would have killed my insurance.

I'm still mad about it but don't wish any bodily injury to the deputy, I just learned that they are morons in Racine, Wisconsin that lack training on how to operate equipment but I sucked it up and now set the cruise control to 64 on I-94 in Racine.

Respect for manning up to it, but point the finger where it belongs. The cop was doing his job. If it was 74 in a 30, what the hell else was he supposed to do? He could be an FCA member and he still would have pulled you over.

You might want to find out whether 74 in 30mph zone is a different violation than 55 in a 30. An attorney wouldn't be a bad idea.

    Lol.

I hate being the official FChat Ralph Nader stand-in, but even in a 'slow' 328 I really have to watch the speed around town. In an F430, I don't think I'd ever get to third gear on public roads. At any rate, take it outside of town or on the track.

If you don't think you were going that speed, then go to court and argue that. You might be able to get the judge to reduce the fines and points to the speed in which you thought you were going.

I got pulled over for doing 80 in a 55 a couple years ago. My radar detector never picked up the laser that htey got it with. I went to court to argue that I thoguht I was doing 65-70, and that my radar detector should have gone off if they had hit me with laser even for a split second. In the end I was able to get my speed reduced on the ticket.

So go to court and try to get it reduced, I don't think they can add anything additional on.

Oh and 74 in a 30 should be reckless driving. Here in MD, double the speedlimit will get you a reckless driving citation.

They may be two seperate charges but I know in New Orleans at least, if you are 15 over you are also getting a reckless operation to go with it. Kinda a two for one special. :)

I'm sure they will remember know who pulled over the F430 in the last few days. I bet he won't be remembered as being such a good guy then and the admission of guilt here won't hurt either. Can the DA add the reckless operation?

In MD---speeding does not constitute reckless driving. I have had motorcycles at well over 125mph that I wrote a speeding ticket as well as reckless driving ticket. The judges down here will throw out the reckless ticket unless you can prove the act was reckless--Speeding in itself is not reckless according to the district court judges...So unless they are passing in a no passing zone or doing something really dangerous other than speeding, I don't bother writing the ticket..Also in MD, no matter how fast you are going--It is NEVER a jailable offense. Even 150mph in a 25mph zone is nothing more than a ticket--fine and points...$580 fine and 5 points for anything over 40mph..

Wow, what a dumbass! You know if you went to court with a different attitude and just asked them for a points reduction you would probably get it, or maybe no points at all, and just pay the fine. All they really want is the money. With your attitude you probably don't have a leg to stand on.

Just my opinion. You could have made things a lot easier on yourself with a different attitude.

Cops don't forget flashy cars like that. And yes the States Attorney can add charge he feels are warranted. The officer can also add charges for up to 1 year after the infraction before it goes to court. That is the case in MD---not sure about FL...

Just another reason to have a radar detector. In this situation, the detector would have been going off like a christmas tree on crack.

It would have but unless it was on already or instant on being used on other cars first I don't think it would have helped.

Hmmmm.... I'm trying to understand your rational... "I'm a jerk and was speeding, so I hope the cop dies." Oh, that makes sense.

And let's see, you can afford an F430, but you can't spring for a lawyer. That makes sense too. Face it, you admit here that you were going at least 25 mph over the posted speed limit. Grow up, go to court, pay the fine, and with any luck the judge will treat you to a few months of no drivers license. Or maybe you'll get really lucky and he'll drop dead before your court date too.

If there is you can have your insurance company go after the cop after they fix your car, or the cop could call in sick and you could cover the paint damage costs and not have to worry about the ticket... : - )

"I would be happy if that pig would drop dead before court date though."

That saying couldn't be any more true. "Just because you have money you cant buy class"
Would you say what you did if that Police Officer was responding to your house due to your child not
    breathing.
Or if your wife were hit by a car which was being operated by a speeding fool. Or if you had your little F430
carjacked by some guy holding a gun to your head?

The Police Officer was doing his job, and a good job at that. He seemed to be professional and polite. All he was trying to do was stop MORONS like you from hurting innocent pedestrians or other motorists.

You may have the money , now get some class.

Payfor an attorney, he will be able to get a better deal than you ever will by yourself. Then suck-it-up and pay the fine and hope the judge doesn't take your licence away.

In florida you need two other moving violations (Dangerous actions) that are willful and wanton in conjunction with the speeding to make it reckless. However, there is a box on the citation that the officer can check that says "Aggressive Driving". That box is mostly for statistical purposes to help law makers decide if they should add an aggressive driving statute. The judge can take that into consideration though since it does appear on the citation.

Frankly I hope you get whats coming and I too know officers from that Dept and I will ask around.

It has already happened to a family member. I still feel the same way. Drunk drivers should be stripped of their license and sent to jail. NOT...fined so the state gets money and then allows them to continue to drive so the state can fine them and get more money again later. I feel the same way about speeding too. If it wasn't a money game for the state I would have no problem with whatever they decided to do.

The part that really makes me scream is the person who killed Harry got out of jail a year before another criminal who molested a young child. The creep was on trial around the same time as the guy who murdered Harry. That truely pisses me off.
