hey, just a minute - I see some imperfections in that car!!! oops...it was just some dirt on my computer screen absolutely fking awesome - Your car - dino, blue color, quality of restoration - is my favorite car on the planet!
We will have to wait until the car is complete, then you'll get the sound of the engine, and the first drive on the final version, from outside and inside the car... I Can't wait, Oh and lets not forget the final photo session that they should be doing for the FORZA Magazine...
Is the correct fuel hose (from the pump to the carbs 6mm or 8mm for that matter it would be nice if we had a list of all the correct hoses by type and size (cavis, braided etc.) This would very helpful for all. I suspect we will have it by tonight.
Today I worked more on getting the engine ready for the test stand. It is getting close. The windshield almost went in. The frame which is not the original due to the fire at the chrome shop which melted mine was distorted. It took 4 of us holding at various points to get in back in shape, all was well until my glass guy said the windshield is warped. It appears it could be because you have to flex the glass in the left side. When you lay it in the frame it is a good 1/2" sticking up off the frame on the left side. (What to do). Jon, I have a replacement windshield and the original frame. They miss by a quarter of an inch on the top right side. The rubber moves enough to hold everything in place and I just worked things to the best compromise and filled the gaps with black silicone so the rain would not come in. I did the silicone. The dealer got the glass in before I bought the car. He just never ran in the rain. I just never saw the size of the gaps. Seems to me that the glass must fit the body. The frame must fit the body. The glass must fit the frame. The rubber must take up the differences. Might be easier to modify the frame if the glass matches the body. A little cutting, a little welding and a little chrome is easier and faster than the other alternatives. Don't know what else to say. Good luck. John
The picture shows where the rubber will hold it in place. It is about 1/2" away from the frame in this area. everywhere else it fits fine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like you took it off the rotiserie? Now that's when you know you are getting close. I can feel your pain on the glass problem. Wish I could help. Alberto
Jon, I should have said that the frame should fit all of the above. You fit the glass to the body and the rubber makes up the difference. Then the frame goes in the gap to lock all in place. I'll bet that is one place where there were a dozen frames and the poor techs at Ferrari had to pick and choose to get one to fit. The Dino could not be built by Fiat and Ferrari stepped in. Almost at the beginning of production. Maybe this kind of problem was the reason. Does the new frame and rubber go on the old windshield? Good indicator of where the problem might be. John
jon, i know about the frame being a replacement, but i don't recall you posting anything about a new windshield. is it the original windshield?
The windshield is new as the old one had some scratches that could not be polished out. I was really excited because my interior just arrived at GT Parts, it took about 9 months. So if the windshield was in I was planning on the carpet under the dash and the dash. Best of plans have gone down the tubes for now, so I took the day off to go to the LA auto show and to choose my Scuderia color. I'm really down to firing up the engine, part of the interior, putting the rear hubs together and finishing the rear suspension, putting the doors on and all the stuff that goes with assembling the targa top and a BUNCH of misc. items. I take that back, there is still a bunch of stuff to do but there is now light at the end of the tunnel as soon as I resolve the windshield problem. Oh, here is the color I chose for the Scuderia. Beautiful Jon. Was fun comparing the Dino and a 430 a couple of week ago. Don't know about the other new cars but the 430 has the heritage. 550 and 575 did also. Nothing since. We will just have to enjoy what we have. Hard life isn't it. John
Do you still have the original windshield with you ? I would probably measure it against the one that you are installing to see if there are any differences. Good luck. Oh yeah, . . congrats on the new Scuderia ! You are the man . . . .
jon, we saw similar colored scuderia's in maranello the first week of september, i have to agree with you on your choice, it is a beuatiful color
As soon, I'll be redoing my seats now that the leather has come is there someone who need the old leather off my seats. Its black in good condition. I was thinking of Corbani.
