There are some rotten apples that spoil the whole bunch. But 95% of the officers out there are upstanding good people. As I stated before, you love the Police when you need the Police, and hate them when you get caught for breaking the law.

What do you law breakers do for a living? Sit behind a desk, push papers, phone jockey? Live life wishing you were a Police Officer but couldn't hack it?

What do the Police do? Put on a bulletproof vest everyday, put a gun on the belt, and deal with iggnorant people who think they are above the law. Police leave their families everyday knowing that there is a possibility that they may not return home to see them again. For what? $50,000, $60,000, $70,000? Peanuts compared to the dangers faced! The whole reason why a Police Officer does what he does is because of the citizens and protecting people and trying to make the world a little better so our kids someday won't have to get hit by you driving your 430 that you claim to have at an outrageous speed through residential streets.

As far as I'm concerned, I hope you need the Police someday, and when you do, I hope they are all tied up and busy with other calls for service douch bag.

    Mike

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read. Oh, and by the way some cops are criminals to (cop-criminals) so that would make three types of people.

How about 42 years ago, like pre Miranda? You know, being read your rights. That's less than 42 years old.

Blacks going to White schools? Less than 50 years old.

The Civil Rights Act isn't even 45 years old (e.g. Blacks allowed to vote). Women just earned the right to vote in 1920, too.

What about 33 years ago? It was only 1974 that we've been allowed to own gold.

20 years ago you couldn't carry a concealed weapon in 47 states. Today it's legal in 46 out of 50.

5 years ago you couldn't defend your property, and the law said that you had to *retreat* from a home invader. Today, castle laws are sweeping the country, making it once again legal to defend youself, home, and property (without having to retreat!).

12 years ago it was illegal to conduct commerce on the Internet...so forums like FerrariChat with $15 Silver subscriptions would have been illegal back then (circa 1994/1995).

62 years ago the U.S. had food, gasoline, and automobile tire rationing. You couldn't just go buy new tires or a tank of fuel.

Porn has been legal for fewer than 50 years. Gay sex for fewer than 5 years in some states.

The Freedom of Information Act has given us the right to find out what the government files on each of us, too. That's pretty recent.

So you'd argue that our rights are disappearing, instead?!

Handguns were banned in DC some 30 years ago.
The "Patriot Act" is around 5 years old.
And those VA "Civil remedial fees" (i.e. 'We can't call them fines because that is set by law so we have to call them civil remedial fees so we can get even more money from hard working people')...Not even a year old.

And don't get me started on Supreme Court rulings restricting our property rights or weenie politicians restricting our freedoms because "It's for the children". I could go on but you get the picture.

Handguns were legalized in DC this year.
The Patriot Act didn't restrict your rights.
VA fees I'll give ya, though!
And property rights do need more protection, I grant you.

And at the same time you argue cops in general are nice people? From my experience, and that of many others, a large percentage of cops are d0uche bags on a power trip. Apparenyly you're trying to uphold the image.
They might be decent people before becoming pigs, but somewhere between joining and a couple few years on the job, many people change for the worse. I have met many cops socially and professionally that were very nice people and saw them treat others like an equal human being. But I've met more that were total scumbags.

And at the same time and my experience most officers are great people----so with the amount of officers I know versus the amount you know---I guess most are good people....
And then again with your "pig" reference - I am sure most are negative towards you with that attitude....If you are coming here calling us pigs then best believe you are disrespectful to them on the street....

I think he got a few today.

Thank you 285 for your service and while we all think of others this holiday, think about this CHP officers family who lost his life just this week looking for a drunk driver.

This is from you post #105 in this thread

"I've had way too many tickets and am in the process of fighting one currently - so I didn't need another for speeding) " Which is it is your driving record clean or have you had x amount of tickets? or it may be confusing the way you wrote it is this your wife speking about her driving record. Either way, you may not think you have an attitude with the police but I have a feeling from your many "bad" experiences it bleeds thrpugh with out you realizing it.

Not yet, not until the Supreme Court rules. And it only took 30+ years and a stacked deck to get it done.

Ummm, yeah it did. Google; "Patriot Act" "warrentless wiretapping"

    Thanks for your support.

Nope still just two types. BTW "There are only two types of people out there, cops and criminals." is a quote straight from a cops mouth.

That was a copy paste from NSXPrime my wife posted a while ago. My driving record is clean, my wife well thats another story. I am 42 and I have learned my lessons. She is only 27 and has a lot to learn yet.

Look I have a few family members who are LEO's. I have watched them change over the years after becoming an officer. I have gone on ride alongs to try and get a look at what they do. I don't know what it is but for some reason I always get treated like siht by the police. Now let me make another point, I am talking only about where I am in NY. I haven't had any problems, never been pulled over in Florida. So I am really making a general comment about a specific area. Cops may be a lot different outside of the area I am speaking of.

Someone said no one likes the police until you need their help. Everytime I need their help they are unwilling to help me. Sorry it's a civil matter. Most likely because I want to put some scumbag tenant in jail but they can't fine and collect money from a scum bag so they write tickets instead. I had a tenant beat all the sheetrock off the wall because he was evicted, that's criminal vandalism IMO. It should be as easy for me to collect on an bad debt as it is for the courts to collect on a speeding ticket.

If the police are called three or more times to the same noise complaint the landlord gets a bill. why because the police get the situation under control the first 3 times? come on.

This forum is fun... The comment about the officer was made just to get a reaction. I agree it was in poor taste. I actually think that most officers are decent people. I even have a few cops that are friends, and I think cops are just regular people like you and me, some are good, some are bad. Cops do have a ton of power though and that is why some people do the job. The cop that nabbed me was just doing his job, and I was speeding though not dangerously. (the road is about 1/2 mile long and there are no houses or side roads and outside of city) and I was due for a ticket, I have been getting less and less careful lately. I have been pulled over by officers in the past and most of them were very fair. It does really pis me off when I get a ticket though, because it takes all the fun out of driving for a while. You really cant enjoy a high performance car if your constantly worried about another ticket. Which is why they give them, to slow you down. By the way lxcoupe is not my wife. He is a friend of mine. If you treat the public roads like a race track... it costs almost as much as driving on a real one, (its just more convenient.) kidding.

+2, I have to say that in my experience it has been around 60-70% jerks. And no I don't give them any grief because I just want to go home (and call my lawyer) and I don't need them walking around my car and tacking on more stuff to the ticket. Anyway police have been turned into glorified tax collectors. Traffic infractions are major sources or revenue for states and localities and if you don't believe me look at the civil remedial fees in VA.
