near Malibu lake and mulholland...400+ acres..10+ house gone...
I live way at the other end of Kanan, way away from PCH and the wind was howling like crazy last night.....
Yup .. heard they expect winds to die down this afternoon though so I hope they get this under control soon. Watching the plume of smoke from my house in big rock cyn/malibu. Charter TV/broadband is out. Online via my Verizon EVDO card - watching the news online here: http://www.knbc.com/videostream/10954229/detail.html
The Passion of the Malibu..... Well, at least they'll have all fire-fighting resources fresh & available to work on this one.
its all over the news i cant believe the second one like this in just over a month hope everyone is ok, and it sucks that these homes were lost
What you said. Some ash in the air in San Diego today, and a fire out in Ramona apparently. This is the worst fire season I can remember.
Right now investigators are looking into the possibility of the cause being kids who were partying up at Castro Peak. What a bunch of dumbasses.
Let's not forget the innocent cars that had to perish in this senseless fire. A reporter filed his story yesterday standing in front of a house that had vanished, and all that was left were the hulks of a 55 Chevy pickup, a 67-68 Mustang fastback, and a Porsche 911. RIP.
Corral Canyon and Latigo canyon were my two favorite canyons here. I live in Malibu and any time I'm stressed I go drive up those canyons. They were spectacularly beautiful, and fantastic roads as well. The setting of the homes that were burned was so peaceful, its a true loss and tragedy. I really feel for the owners.....
Hey, Kraig. I saw that, too. My impression was that the Mustang may actually be a '66 Shelby! The burned out shell looked like it had bright work around the 'sail panel' vent opening...sans vents! Recall that, on a '66 GT350, stainless trim surrounds the plexiglas window that replaces the louvered pot metal vent of the stock fastback. 'bad enough to lose a Mustang, but...! Coop
