I just waxed my car with zymol and am happy with the results. I am going to continue to try different products I.E. P21S and zaino and then decide which I like best.

dan,I've been thinking of wax the car but it has very micro sratches that only I can see in a certain way (the wife say I'm crazy)and I was told zymol would take those out and leave a luster finish,so you do like it?

Yes, so far so good. It removed some of my swirl marks as well. Hope to see you around the Sacramento area soon. I had mine out today for a short jaunt to autozone for oil and filters for my wifes SUV and my daily driver. Keep a heads up in the Northern California section for future drives. By the way who have you chosen to do your service? I use Ben Salerno at Salerno Motorsports in Rocklin. he is an extremely nice guy and used to be the mechanic at the Sacramento Ferrai dealership before it closed.

Zymol won't take out swirl marks - it'll cover some of them up for a while but it won't remove them. For that you need a man with a paint depth gauge and who knows what he's doing with an an orbital buffer....

I have found that Good paint doesn't need fancy Wax. Zaino and Zymol are excellent products but tend to be fairly pricey. If the foundation is good, Mothers Gold will look provide excellent results and be a touch easier on your pocket. After all we have to save up for those $35 UFI filters don't we!

I find that with older yet fine examples you still need to clay bar the surface to remove impruities from the valleys in the paint. Following that I use 3M Perfect-It Pad glaze by hand to remove micro scratches and finish up with a high per centage Carnuba wax of your choice. After 35 years of rubbin' on Jaguars and Ferraris that has given me good results.

Most folks are careful not to get too aggressive with a paint job that could cost from $3k -10k to redo. Slow and careful is the Ticket!

    Cheers

I used Zymol Italian car red wax until I discovered Meguiar's techwax. The techwax is a polymer and lasts much longer, and it is much easier to take off after applying. Results thus far have been great. Zymol is great too, but the good stuff is very pricey.

I tend to agree with most of this. I've used Zymol. Swissoil, Zaino etc and now back to AutoGlym. Much like painting really, the results reflect the preparation. Taking time really shines though.

I personally think Zymol is garbage. I've had gorgeous results with Autoglym's products on both my 308 and my 400i. Highly recommended just a pain to obtain because they have to be ordered from the UK.

Ian. You are correct. I meant that they are much less visible, for how long, who knows I have not had to wash my car yet. I will be more careful and specific with my descriptions.

I wouldn't put autoglym on my daily beater (and I can buy it from the shop round the corner!). It doesn't last, its full of abrasives and there's very little actual wax in it. If you want high street, off the shelf stuff I'd use Meguires before Autoglym every day of the week.

While the Zymol stuff might be more expensive to buy in the first instance, because you use so little of it it also works out to be far less expensive to use in the longer term IMHO.

A lot of the best professional detailers in the UK seem to use it & I don't know of one who uses Autoglym. When you look at what these guys do & how long it takes, you can also see that most of what they are charging for is their time & labour (as opposed to the fact that they might be using very expensive products). They use it because it provides the best results.
