Judging by the trailers it looks pretty good. Anyone going to see this? http://iamlegend.warnerbros.com/ RMX
What I don't get is why he's driving a Shelby through the empty NY when there is a Ferrari showroom only 5 minutes away from him....
There's probably a good number of reasons. No dealer wanted to give one, production didn't want to buy one, the character's car may be destroyed, etc. I want to see it, but I'm a bit disappointed 1 trailer actually showed this other creature or whatever.
Looks very similar to a film from the early 70s. Omega Man, Charlston Heston. The original was pretty good.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Legend Other adaptations I Am Legend has so far been adapted onto film four times, and one of the two 2007 adaptations, now set for release on December 14, 2007, has gone through several iterations. Will Smith plays as Robert Neville. It has also been adapted into a graphic novel titled Richard Matheson's I Am Legend by Steve Niles and Elman Brown The Last Man on Earth (1964 film) In 1964, Vincent Price starred as Dr. Robert Morgan (rather than "Neville") in The Last Man on Earth. (An Italian production, the original title was L'Ultimo Uomo Della Terra). Matheson wrote the screenplay for this adaptation, but later rewrites were changed, because he did not wish his name to appear in the credits. As a result, Matheson is credited under the pseudonym "Logan Swanson". The Omega Man In 1971 a far different version appeared as The Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston and Anthony Zerbe. Matheson had no influence on the screenplay for this film; it deviates from the novel's story in several ways, removing the vampirical elements. I Am Legend (2007 film) A Ridley Scott adaptation was scheduled for production in the late 1990s, but fell through due to an inflating budget. The film was to star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who became governor of California. Will Smith will now star in the film directed by Francis Lawrence (Constantine). I Am Omega A straight to DVD adaptation released in 2007 starring Marc Dacascos, directed by Griff Furst. In a futuristic dystopia, a lethal plague has killed or mutated every human on Earth except one. Now, the planet's solitary survivor finds himself in an ongoing battle with the horrific mutants who have taken control of the planet. Forced to fight or be killed by the creatures intent on eliminating him, he has only his wits and his deadly fighting skills to help him stay alive.
One possible reason could be that the Shelby drives out of a showroom window that is about 5-10 feet up, destroying the suspension and front bodywork. I saw the making of the chase on a show that I forgot the name of, but it was the making of car chases for movies.
I walked out a wrong door of grand central terminal a couple months ago right onto one of the locations they were filming in. I am standing there saying to myself, "Why dont any of these cars have people in them?" All of a sudden I hear, "Places! Background! and.......ACTION!" They finally see me standing by the door dumbfounded and immediately cut. I hear over a PA system, "Someone get that guy off the set!" The production assistants come over and usher me off the set but not before I asked what they were filming and grabbing some food. Didnt see Will Smith though.
i visisted new york october 2006 and too walked out the wrong door of grand central and the set was still up, but they werent filming. they made the street look like some post apocolyptic scene, smashed glass, wrecked cop cars etc.
I really wanted to see this when the teasers came out, then i saw the trailer that showed the creatures and that just ruined it for me.
When the screen says he's the last man on Earth, why does it go on to say "last hope"? Hope for what? Him win the fight, get old and die?
I don't know if I'm going to see it or not.....but I do know if I was the last man on earth, I highly doubt you'd catch me in a Mustang no matter how much horse power it tries to have.
Not to tread on the joke but I think the car in question is two things - first I bet they got it for free from Ford, and second, in Charlton Heston's "Omega Man", he crashes his convertible and goes into a showroom and takes a blue Mustang which he drives for much of the movie - so its probably partly an homage to that flick.
Well, they could have paid homage by crashing a Mustang Vert and picking up a real performance car at least....
I believe he is a brilliant scientist, who also happens to be immune to whatever they have. He's trying to figure out a way to make an "antivirus" from his own blood. That's why in one of the commercials, you hear him yelling "I can help you!" Looks awesome, I'll def. see it.
No. I didn't say he was going to try to start banging the monsters. But make some kind of medicine/antivirus from his own blood to give to the monsters to try and turn them back into humans.
