    Good article. Thanks for posting.

One of the problems may be too many drivers and too many teams to keep up with. As the article says, many of the big names are gone.

You're right Felipe, it was a good article, but I can't see how the loss in viewership is due to name drivers retiring. Imo, it's the endless length of yellows for no apparent reason and the subsequent cramming of ad space. How can a belt or pipe on the track justify a 6 lap caution? But what's worse is having the same ads reappear every caution for at least 8 minutes.. How can even a diehard fan endure such brutality ? Toss in that no one dreams of racing or even owning an Avenger/Fusion/Impala/Camry, let alone the mutant creations Nascar manages to call stock, and you'd honestly have to give full credit to the marketing brigade for getting the numbers they currently have.
Speed's half hour , 3 driver review of the last race (show name escapes me) is informative, entertaining and covers all the Nascar I need without the pain.

Basically I just watch the last 5 minutes of the race live unless-

    F1 is on
    Football is on
It's too cold/wet to be boating on the lake
A test pattern is not on
    I am driving the Fcar
    Catching up on my reading
    Taking a dump
    Sleeping ;)

Hello gentlemen, I'm new around F Chat and will chime in on this topic.
F1 is taking disturbing steps in the NASCAR direction with all the rules intended to level the playing field. Why, at supposedly the top echelon of racing should the field be level? F2 for those who can't hack it I say.
Modern NASCAR is painfully boring for me as is all oval racing, NASCAR's nose picking TV commentators make it even worse.
A look at the film where JPM drove Jeff Gordon's stocker and Gordon wheeled the ('04?)McLaren is the best way I can think of to compare the two series. JPM had a hard time finding kind words for Gordon's brute. Jeff Gordon was positively giddy after his laps and couldn't stop babbling on about it.
I'd say these guys are the experts.
As far as rednecks and snobbery. I don't see any Ferrari drivers vandalizing pick-up trucks.

I was going to slam the article and the writer till I saw who wrote it. Lee Spencer has been reporting on NASCAR for a long time. She knows her stuff. She not like some of the others who called one of the drivers "Jimmy Gorden".

But she is a reporter, and her job is to create sensationalism. So she gets no respect from me. She can stick it.
