I am looking at a solid [no rust] 81 2V 308 in my area that has minor cosmetic issues, nice interior, solid motor and is original. It is a classic red on tan. Any input on a fair market value? I can land the car for 21K. It just had the belts/bearings completed and does not smoke. It has 55K Miles.

Wow...I expected more than that from you Tommy ;) Just to clarify my intentions I want to drive/sort it out and look at selling in the spring so I can move into a later QV.

+1 but don't just look at the belt and bearings do a thorough inspection and ask for the service history
or any records, receipts, etc... Have you driven the car? If not drive it and if everything is good, then yes buy the damn thing:)
Post some pics. if you could thanks.

    21k sounds good.

Get a PPI or at least drive the car for an hour and let it idle when warm and check for overheating and check the synchros and start it several times both hot and cold. turn on all the lights and turn signals etc.

    Buy it and drive it.

Does the rear end look to be sitting a little low? It may be just the camera angle? Joe

I think it may be that the car is on an incline in the side view picture...just a guess.

If it looks that good up close and if it runs, shifts and drives good, I'd say its a good deal. But when you go to look at it, take your time, look for the small stuff and keep a notebook handy. Those little things will ad up fast and can be used to get to the bottom line with pricing. Its a good looking car from what I can see...good luck.

Does look to be sitting a tad lower in the rear judging from the wheel to wheel well gap, but may be amplified a bit because it appears to be parked on an incline. The pics otherwise look great and if it checks out ok, for 21K is an awsum deal!

    Cheers!

That is exactly my all time favorite Ferrari, an 81 or 82 2Vi, red/tan, single mirror, no extra crap. Just clean and nice. I love it. Makes me feel 13 again.

Cavallino is smoking crack. Maybe 60K for one in museum condition. $21 for this one seems fair.

That's good for you. Texas is much kinder to these things than Florida is as far as rust goes.

For now the one in Reno is off...and it's back up on eBay [for the 3rd time]. The smoke issue and compression had me concerned. Transporting the car for 2K, especially a diy ,just doesn't make sense if I can't see the car and get a full PPI [which the seller kept avoiding when I brought it up]. Best for someone closer to consider the car.

go on www.nada.com and you'll find a close idea what the market value is!

Hmmm...that shows a big diff from the QV. How many people go to nada for market pricing on exotics? I ran some Porsche Turbo numbers and they appear conservative.
