should invite alonso to the show :D
Yes there have been two Stigs but many people to drive dressed up as the Stig. The logistics of getting somebody to drive the cars around the tracks every week is pretty much impossible, so they have different people come and drive as the Stig.
Hell if that's the case I'll be glad to comeover and school their 'STIG'S' !!! Just show me were to sign!
The Stig that drove the R26 (maybe R25) around the track in under a minute was actually Heikki back when he was a test driver.
I posted a quick how-to here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137087808&postcount=11 Don't be dissapointed when the download starts and you get no more than 10kb/s, it usually accellerates quickly.
He had a very wet track at the time, he would of easily beaten the Stigs time. I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis get a 1.41 in the Lacetti.
The original Stig was an English guy called Perry Macarthy he didnt get sacked for blabbing but was outed by one of the tabloids who decided as usual that it was the Right thing to do (meaning good for sales and bugger the consequences)its my understanding that he still does most of the driving and is only replaced occasionally when other commitments take him away. As a side to this if you want to read an excellent book his story is called "Flat out and Flat broke" and tells you of how he didnt get to be an F1 driver its a great story and well worth a read.
I use Bitcomet and iso hunt for the whatever you want you name it its there.. I will post links if requested..
Bennett, don't know about your area, but on the Dish network (satllite provider) they do carry the show on BBC america.
yes!!! terrific driver and very friendly person...........she was our driver when we did the Ring-Taxi a few years ago when they still had the e39 M5's........most fun i've ever had as a passenger!!!worth every penny!!........but book way in advanced as slots get filled almost a year out.
It was the R24 iirc. They shot that scene a few months before the 2005 season started, which won the championship. I think it may have been the fastest one since 2004 (the year of the R24) posted the fastest times in F1.
Must try that Taxi, save me wrecking my car. The best part of Sabine in the van, was her blowing of porsches and motorbikes, imagine it driving your car as fast as you dare and a bloody van hustling you in the rear
i thought in that interview the Stig was actually Hammond. look at the height it's the same as that interviewer. or prolly shorter. then look at the part where she asks Hammond and James about the Stig. look at the height
Davidson's not exactly a tall guy either - just kidding. Anyways, I've heard and seen tons of interviews with him and his accent is really what gives it away, check out this video to see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0-KBhuPHp4 There have been little hints here and there that have been dropped that maybe suggest Stig is a grand prix driver. There was the one episode of Top Gear where Stig is on the train reading the newspaper and when he flips it over to see a cover dominated by one of Hamilton's glory drives of the season he chunks with some fervor....... like maybe they are on that same competitve level (not denying the fact that Stiggy is a super secret MI6 experiment with a driving ability way beyond that of mere mortals). Then Clarkson accepted his TV award from Hamilton and said something to the effect that the Stig was gonna set him straight when he eventually got to drive the reasonably priced car to which Hamilton chuckled... I got the impression that the statement was dropped on him like an inside joke. One other tidbit, in the Caparo T1 test check out the scenes after Clarkson fubars something and does his team america signal and they are doing repairs, theres a guy standing in the background having a laugh that looks remarkably like Davidson. And he's not running about like all the other people in the frame but eyeing the car down... like a driver.... Then finally there is this buildup of Hamilton VS Stig and I realize that in Belgium Davidson mentioned if he had been driving a Mclaren he could have made poll there. So come Sunday, given equal cars, maybe this is the chance to qualify that proclamation. At any rate, people probably won't know the current stig's identity for years..... and there might as well be more than one Stig... Do I watch too much Top Gear?
