White P4/5?

I have always thought that sevaral of the photos of this car have had these wheels photoshopped onto the rolling chassis. Even in the car mags, these wheels show up, which I know ended up on the final product but probably weren't on the work in progress. I'm not an expert but it has always looked in the early pics like they were added. Napolis would know, of course. Weren't the final wheels late in the assembly process as they were custom? I'm not being critical, just curious.....

 

They weren't on the first wind tunnel shell but were on the final wind tunnel testing and on the car the first time it was driven.

We recently made a final version that look exactly the same but are a touch lighter. The Camera simply freezes them.

I think the Ferrari P4/5 and the Maserati Birdcage 75th are the two most beautiful cars on the planet. If I ever find myself in possession of sufficient wealth... Ah well! I can dream for nothing!!

 

It wouldn't matter cause you still wouldn't be able to get the P 4/5, 1 of a kind!

 

Is that the case or would Pininfarina be happy to manufacture a second one if enough cash was waved at them... Or can Mr Glickenhaus insist that no more are made? It makes me wonder what I'd commission Pininfarina to make for me!

 

This is coming from someone who has no affiliation with Jim or Pininfarina whatsoever. It seems to me that Pininfarina will not make another P4/5. Money is not something that he is lacking I am sure (state of the art equipment!!!) and when a replica involves gutting an Enzo, I doubt money is much of a concern. I believe I remember a previous post where Jim mentioned that someone tried ordering a P4/5 (I think it was an arab prince or something) and could not understand why they would not build one for him. Well to me, its not about the price. Jim has a remarkable collection including a P4, which is a priceless car in my opinion. To him, I am sure it's not about money its more about the heritage and history of Ferraries in the past. Personally, if someone wanted a replica of such a car, I would question the reasons behind why they want it. Chances are, its because its the most exclusive car in the world. 1 of 1 . If I had the means, I would go to Pininfarina and ask them to make something that meant a lot to me personally. I wouldn't get a P4/5, there are many cars out there that have an enormous heritage and history and I am sure building a tribute to them would be just as satisfying.

I apologize for the structure of my paragraph, but what I am trying to say is that it's not so much about the money as about what it means to the buyer. Judging from Jim's collection, the P4 held a special place in his heart, and so does the P4/5. Pininfarina is definitely not lacking in funds (designing everything from coach builds to portable hard drives) so I doubt anyone could just wave money at him and get his team to make the exact same car.

Ps. I would love some input from Jim because after all it is his car, and he should know more than anyone else how Pininfarina decides who his potential clients are.

Jim said in another post that he owns the name and the rights to the P 4/5 for no one can have another built without Jim's permission. If i'm incorrect Jim let me know.

How ? I play around with photography quite a bit, and am only aware of shutter speed affecting blur, and the obvious relative movement of the subject to the camera.

I guess you must mean, as an example, a photograph of even a stationary subject with a non image-stablized 600mm would be hard to not be blurry even with a relatively fast shutter speed ?

 

In addition Focal length affects depth of field in focus. F stop affects focus, shutter speed affects F stop.

I own the design of P 4/5. It will remain one of one.

Reliable meaning - owner of the car hahah. I actually stood 5 feet from this car when I happen to see the owner at a station I frequent here in CT, amazing. Napolis, I know that particular station is full service. Did you let the attendant fill her up or did you?

In short the photo was taken with a very fast shutter speed and a very high “remember lower is higher” F-stop. The blur you see in the picture is NOT motion blur, its blur due to a high F-stop.
Higher F-stops only focus on the subject leaving the background blurry, where as a lower F-stop will have the entire picture in focus subject and background.

True but if that was motion blur, the wheels would definitely be blurred - the speed the wheels would move (especially towards the lip) would be far in excess of the speed of background movement.

In addition, knowing Photoshop pretty well, this is obviously a photoshop job.

Someone cut and pasted the car into a background and applied a blur effect. Look at the leading edge of the front spoiler - it's blurred on the edge closest to the camera and is also blurred on the far side. Actually if you look the entire outline of the car is blurred yet the center of it is in perfect focus (front lights, indicators, cockpit and passenger face). Someone cut out the pic, dropped into a background and blurred the edges to help cover it up.

I presume this was done so the person claiming to have taken the pic can say they saw the car somewhere or that there are multiple cars, when in reality someone just grabbed a pre-finish shot of the car and photochopped it.

And whomever did that violated the copyright of the pic owner!
