I really dont see why this could not be true. I used to live Avenue foch in Paris. In my building we had 3/4 princes from SA. They had RRs , Countachs , Porsches that were collecting dust in the parking for years. Also if you go to the main public parking under the avenue , you will see tons of exotics from the 70/80s collecting dust such as Mondials, AM Lagonda , 928s , Testarossas etc...

    They simply dont remember .

OK, so it's not an F40, but an example - Espada in Brunei... and this is just the tip of the iceberg of what goes on there :( Tens, hundreds of cars just standing alone or in lots (or outside from lack of storage space) rotting away - as witnessed by mechanics who worked there. Also, check these out:

Are there any other pictures of the Sultan's cars in bad condition. I've seen pictures of his rotting Espada and Pantera, but I haven't seen any more of his neglected cars.

The difference between your pics and what this person says of an F40 are complete opposite. The car you illustrate is abondoned, the F40 he saw, is at a garage, and its covered. Compare apples with apples. Im sure the car exsists, but ask yourself this question. Why would the owner of the garage ( a mechanic) give this person (kid, man) the phone numebr to the owners private staff and say he could buy it for 30K....do you not think the owner of this garage where this car is kept knwos the value of an F40 ? Ask yourself that question.

Many, they call their pets Princes...everyone over their is a prince, its in their culture.

WOW..I watched those videos in total disbelief.

Whats the story behind all that? I feel bad if I don't go to my guest house for a week..but I cannot imagine forgetting about places like that! even with all the money they have...hire someone to hire someone to hire someone to maintain those residences...and cars

All too different? I don't know... Espada was left outside, just like the F40 could have been left for some repairs and never again picked up (as demo said). Anyway, like I wrote - that is just an example, the tip of an iceberg. I don't recall it was the mechanic telling demo he could have it for 30K, IIRC it was his own assumption. Maybe this is a scam, a lie.. in that case, the joke's on me (and a few others here). Maybe it's the emotions over the car that I lust and love the most getting the better of me... we'll see. In any case, with that Brunei post I just wanted to show it IS possible.

    I don't remember the exact details, I found this article that should explain most of it, although I'm just going to read it now myself;

Whether Brunei or Saudi Arabia or wherever, this is what happens when people don't work for their money.

These car's to people with such great wealth are just 'the flavor of the day' so to speak. They are not true car enthusiast, well some are and I dont want to offend those who are, but it's like the people who rushed out to buy an iPhone. They must have the latest and greatest of everything to massage their own ego.

I am really surprised at some of the comments made...first, we dont even know whether this guy who claims to have found this treasure is telling the truth, and really, who cares anyhow; and then why do we need to be prejudging other cultures when we dont even know who owned the car, and what it was doing there, or even if it is there.

I think rich people everywhere may have had to work hard for their wealth or they may have inherited it. Regardless of that, people who know enough to buy an F40 would not discard it. No one is that stupid. I may be the stupid one sitting here reading the posts of some guy who wont even post any more....we all hope to stumble on a great find and we think this guy has...I personally don't believe this story, nor would it matter to me if it were true.

Let's just say 'We agree to disagree" on our outlook and you are the one who brought up 'cultural judgement' not I. Your outlook on this 'probable' scenario is very nieve imo. Some still realize that this still happen's and some dont and THAT'S OK!

    Coachi,

I can tell you the story of a ONE-OFF Lamborghini that ran out of gas in the Saudi desert one weekend. The Prince had it towed to a local gas station and told the proprietor that he would send someone on Monday to collect the car. The gas station proprietor never heard from the Prince again for 10 years! Turns out he had over 100 cars in his collection, and wasnt fond of this particular car anyway. When the gas station proprietor finally managed to get through to the Prince's people because he wanted to dispose of the vehicle from his courtyard, he was told that he could sell the car and keep the proceeds for his troubles...

I think the point to consider here is that some people are SO wealthy that the cars mean very little in the grand scheme of things and they are just toys to be enjoyed for a bit and are easily disposed of, gifted to family members or freinds, traded, sold or simply forgotton about...

    It happens.

Having said all that, I havent a clue about the veracity nor the facts of the car that is the subject of this thread. I simply wanted to point out that the "Wealthy guy simply abandons expensive sports car" phenomenon is not new nor is it particularly rare. I myself discovered a Miura SV and a Countach LP400 under these very circumstances.

    Joe:

Thanks for your comments. Maybe this F 40 is for real; I doubt the story myself, but then, we all have opinions. Maybe I should take a trip and load up on some cars.

An internet friend of mine in Dubai, that owns an exotic, is aware of a derelict F-40 in the UAE. He has been trying to pry it away, for quite some time. The owner simply does not care.

i on the other hand know of a wealthy family in Dubai where the chaps father actaully buys cars that are in poor condtion and restores them so he can drive them around, and have seen them myself personaly right in front of me!

Porsches,Mini,Caddilacs etc - there were about 35 together in one parking area, and around another 15 in the other, all waiting to go into the underground garage once it was finished off.
