    Lets say I wanted to buy an early carb engine to rebuild/hi.comp/cam it ?

    What would I have to pay for a complete engine that is currently running?

    I don't have an answer to your question, but have a questions for you. If you are going to change the cams anyway, why not save some money and get a 78-79, the only major difference is the early engines have better cams in them?
