    Greetings.

A few years back the FOC-Midwest had a great little contest called Mille Miglia. The point was to promote driving the Ferraris on a regular basis. With Andreas's permission, I'm stealing the idea for us.

    Rules:

    1. Open to Fchatters living in Texas as of Dec 1 2007
    2. To participate, post a photo of your odometer of your car along with the date and your username written on a sheet of paper so we can clearly see it.
    3. Tell us what kind of Ferrari it is. Only Ferraris are eligible.
    4. Contest begins Jan 1, 2008. You can post start photos up from now until midnight central time Dec 31 2007. Yes, this means if you post start pics early you get a jump. So be it :)
    5. Contest ends Jan 4, 2009 at midnight central time.
    6. Between Jan 1 2009 and Jan 4 2009, post another photo of your odometer along with the date and your username written on a sheet of paper so we can clearly see it. ***note, this will also be your start picture for the 2009 contest ***
    7. Most miles driven during the year wins. In case of tie, the older car wins. If still tied, then the higher Fchat subscription level wins.
    8. If you change cars during the year or own multiple Ferraris, the mileage will be added together. Each car will require the odometer documentation as shown above. Contact me with questions.
    9. I am not eligible for the contest.
    10. There are no entry fees.
    11. I make and interpret all the rules and eligibility. If you have questions, ask me and I'll try to clarify. This contest is not associated with any club or Ferrarichat.com. Please obey all applicable traffic laws.
    12. This is based on the honor system. Please respect that.

If you win, you get a plaque or trophy of some sort. In addition, you'll get your name, miles and years engraved on a permanent Texas Mille Miglia Cup. Hopefully some day it will be famous :D I'll work on getting some swag from vendors, but no promises :)

    Remember, it's just for fun.

    What a stupid idea!
    :)

Glad to see the contest move to the Lone Star state and I hope many folks will post their pics on here.

From a Chicago perspective it is amusing to see the precise January 4 midnight deadline. Here nobody would even think about taking their car out past November. :)

I'll play, but only to see how many miles I drive. I have no preconceived notions that I'll win.

Hey Jud, you're a new owner and driving the wheels off your car, sign up! With Tillman out, it shouldn't be that hard to win it. :)

It is all a nasty trick to make us hook our Odometers back up...

He may even be in cahoots with AutoFax.

Too bad the owner of the damaged blue 308 GTB isn't a member here. With it as his daily driver, I'm sure he's racking up the miles on it. Would probably have a good shot at winning.

Move further away from Norwoods and stop using a flat bed, it will significantly uncrease your chances of taking the title. :)

Wish I could enter my Ducati. I've put on about 3500 miles since I got it around April, and during a very rainy year. Definitely more than I drive the Ferraris. :D

    Bump.

Ya know, if you post your pictures here before the weekend, all that Toy Run mileage will count. Just a thought...

Remember, a pic of the odometer and a note with your username & the date is all it takes to play. PM me if you have questions.

edit: like this, although you should get the whole date in.

It would count in my book, but this is Tillman's show, so he's the judge.

But does your Maser really have a Ferrari engine? I always thought it was the other way round: The Maser engine ended up in the F430 where it got a Ferrari badge and some modifications. What was the story again?

the 330 is at Norwoods right now but I will try to get a photo soon. It may be in contention for the "Garage Queen" award this year.

My 4.2 really is considered a Ferrari/Maserati engine, but the ultimate proof for me was walking through the Maranello factory and seeing several dozen engines sitting in front of the engine dino rooms - at least a good third of them with lovely blue Maserati valve covers, ultimate proof of where the heart of that vehicle is really born :)

But if you want to talk about details: for what I understand, it is the same block as F430 (derived from F360), improved IMHO (no belts) but detuned. According to Maserati's official website, "the GranSport was conceived around a new version of the Coupé’s 4.2 liter Ferrari-derived V8 engine, tuned to produce 400 hp." I'm trying to dig up the research I read as to what came first, but all articles describe it as "derived from Ferrari's", which makes me think that design came first. I wonder if you may be thinking about the new Alfa engine vs California?
