    Hi Tim,

Your charcoal gray is an excellent color for the Daytona and most importantly it is unique. Now, just let us decide your interior colors and you'll be fine ; )

    Hi Tim
I bought a Daytona earlier this year, and it has the signs of rust on the front wings, after reading your threads i am looking for the nearest railway line to jump under a train.

I can't believe it looked so good to start with, had it done a lot of miles? I agree with the guy that said if you intend to keep the car it's your car so paint it the colour you like, the problem with me is i always intend to keep the cars until next week comes along.

The Daytona for me is a dream car, when i was 21 i was thinking about buying a replica RS Daytona [all i could afford and could not realy afford that] but it was a toss up between that or a house and my girl friend won the battle.
I bought an RS a while ago and now have scraped up enough for the real deal, it was worth it just to hear the engine. But it looks like the next engine i hear will be a train. [only joking]
    Good luck with the Car.
    Grant

Actually, this swatch is from a friend in Belgium. He is thinking about doing his very dark (non-metallic) blue 250 GTL in this interior scheme. But it would look perfect in your Daytona too.

Thanks Kevin. Bob Houghton has got someone working on the car full time now so hopefully it should really start coming together now. I will post some more pics soon.

Gearbox going back in at the moment. Dash has been re dyed and is now back in, engine going back in soon. I am waiting for a quote to freshen up the existing interior trim and put that back in and I then need to decide whether to go down this route or have her re trimmed completely. Reoriginals can supply the carpet to the original spec but Lord it's expensive ! I think they may have a source for the original fat style hood struts, am waiting to hear. A new set of Borranis, 7.5 and 9 inchers are on order with a set of the slightly different spinners that are needed when changing from Cromodoras to Borranis and Longstone Tyres here in the U.K have XWX in 215 and 225, date coded 2007 which is a real bonus. The original (but cracked) amber front indicator lenses are going to go back on temporarily until my custom all clear lenses are cast, hopefully January next year.

This part of the rebuild is costing an absolute fortune because all the little nick nacks that were cracked worn or shot have to be replaced and the more you go on with the rebuild and the car looks immaculate, the more you don't want to spoil the overall effect by skimping on reusing old parts if they are duff. Potential restorers beware!

I am going up to Bob's on Monday so will take some photos then.

All that being said, she is going to be a BABE when she's finished.

It is looking great! I love the color. Have you talked with the interior shop that is owned by the son of Kevin at Mototechnique? Maybe they can help you source some of the pieces you need for a better price. I know how these projects can wear on you but it will be worth it in the end. Not only will you have a great car, and know what you have, but the market keeps going up and it is a good investment.

We never doubted it for a minute!

Looks terrific, and I'm sure you're feeling the glory ;)

As an homelander, maybe you'll be glad to see that I got this old girl back on the road a few months ago...?

    Tim,
The color looks gorgeous! Any color interior would work with that color - are you going to change this or keep it black (from what I assume by the posts)?

Most importantly, did you decide if you're going to sell the car after all this work or are you keeping it?

    David
